View Full Version : LeBron has bigman versatility... Something Kobe didn't have

He can dominate a game with his rebounding, as the roll man, from the post in less of a perimeter outside shooting post player like MJ or Kobe, and more of a bigman inside physical post player like Sir Charles or Shaq. He can also anchor a defense, provide rim protection, and be the most important defender on the court, due to his versatility to play all 5 positions defensively.

Wasn't Kobe a shooting guard? This would be like arguing that Curry couldn't dominate inside like Wilt did.

LeBron has shown he can do BOTH

This is why Kobe can't be compared to LBJ

He was statistically the best spot up shooter in the NBA in 2013

And then he backed that year up by becoming the best post player statistically in 2014

His shot is faltering at the moment, but even just last series, he shot 40% on 5+ attempts from 3.

He had plenty of playoffs series in which he averaged in double figures.

Kobe was a specialist and his approach to the game worked pretty well if you ask me.

LeBron is the most athletically gifted player in pro sports, of course he's more versatile, but I'd argue that he may have won more if he focused more on a singular aspect of his game like Kobe did.

Went to Mcdonalds yesterday after watching X-Men Apocalypse. One of the employee looks like him.

No need to bring up Kobe who is closer to Wade level.

Lebron's versatility allowed him to do many things MJ couldn't do. Bosh got injured and Lebron moved to PF in the 2012 playoffs. Love got injured in 2015 playoffs and Lebron upped his rebounds. Irving got injured in the 2015 playoffs so Lebron upped his assists.

Kobe had well balanced teams that didn't require him to cover other aspects of necessity

LeBron's teams have routinely been unbalanced and called upon him to do multiple things.

For instance, those Miami Heat teams were notoriously weak up front... LeBron played PF and C 73% of the time in the playoffs

He had to be the main scorer, facilitator, best defender, and a dominant rebounder

This was never more shown than last years playoffs

LeBron played center the most

For his career in the playoffs

LeBron has played

SF 54% of the time
PF 38% of the time
C 8% of the time

He played the center position a whopping 38% of the time last playoffs

And Kobe also played with Shaq, and Gasol. Two of the best big men in his era.

Shaq was the best center of the 2000's while Gasol was a top 4-5 Power Forward.

And this is why bran stans are 2/6. They think quantity is more important than quality or efficiency over effectiveness. Perimeter player>>>big man in terms of skills. Elite scorer>>>all around player. Contested fadeaways at 45% fg%>>layups at 50%. But i guess this is what happens when you only have avg iq. You cant identify which are more important and which are less.

Erm... It helps when you're 6'9" rather than 6'6"
