2016 Playoffs:
Field Goals Defended at Rim %: (Opponent FG% when defended by said individual)
Tristan Thompson: 53.3% (6.0 contests a game)
Kevin Love: 68.9% (7.4 contests a game)
LeBron James: 45.2% (3.1 contests a game)
Channing Frye: 62.5% (2.7 contests a game)
LeBron would have more best rim protector contests, but he's busy roaming the perimeter as well, leading the Cavs in steal % and averaging nearly 3 a game.

Without 3-point shooting to draw defenders out of the paint, the paint was often overcrowded , forcing players to pull-up from midrange:

Lebron is not a rim-protector.
Post his stats from the regular season
Mosgov is their rim-protector, at least he was last year... As soon as the Cavs got him, they went from a decent team to a top 5 team.
He isn't getting playing time. LeBron is the best active Rim Protector on the Cavs!

I'd rather have LeBron at the 5 than Jordan.

Lebron peaked in Miami.
Under the tutelage of Dwyane Wade, he became a distant second best in terms of perimeter player rim protectors.

I could find 2013-2014 stats and LeBron blew Dwyane out of the water in the Rim protection stats
I wonder what the 2012 and 2013 Rim protection stats would look like
LeBron's size and athleticism allows him to be a better rim protector than Dwyane, who is no slouch

We can assume prime Lebron vs injured Wade would be won by Bron, but peak for peak... Bron is a distant second.
Better chase down blocker, but rim protector, does not come up as big as Wade. Especially that 2009 season. GOAT level.

LeBron is the superior big man rim protector, stuffing the likes of Tim Duncan, Kevin Garnett, Dwight Howard, Roy Hibbert, Splitter,
Wade had that weakside sneak in on opponents attacking the rim
LeBron was routinely playing the 4 or even the 5, so often he was in position to contest as a traditional big

Why, because Wade got more blocks by blocking 6'2 point guards?
Please don't use block numbers to try and justify Wade being a better rim protector than LeBron.
Would you take Deandre Jordan over Prime Duncan for rim protection cause Deandre gets more blocks?
Wade's blocks have always been inflated. In terms of interior shot contest, help defense, post defense, and overall rim protection Prime Wade cant even sniff LeBrons shoes

Wade certainly does have great blocks against 7 footers... Even in a chest2chest rim protector type fashion like in those LBJ gifs above
But situationally he was a SG and not nearly positioned as close to the rim as LBJ was as a PF/C... He had a lot of blocks on guards and weakside 3rd man up type contests on bigs...

I think we can all agree that Michael Jordan was a garbage rim protector compared to Bron.

My goodness, the man is cat like. His better instincts as far as shot blocking go allow him to make better blocks on big men than even a guy like Bron with a bigger frame, and bigger wingspan can manage. Just far more switched on, and more willing to go head on with these big guys.
Unmatched in this regard. Bron a very good, but distant second.

Unfortunately bro, Dwyane is a SG so he was routinely not in the traditional bigman rim protector position
Those are weak side shotblocks!

LeBron has been the best perimeter defender and rim protector in this year's playoffs.
