He's 574 behind Stockton. At 7 apg, tht's 82 games. 4 seasons of 20 games per playoffs is pretty doable if he makes the Finals most of those years. No chance he catches Magic ofc, just wondering if he could surpass 2000.

I was JUST about to make this thread and lo and behold, is ISH founder has done it.

Excellent achievement by Lebron James. He's now 4th all time in points and 3rd all time in assists at 31. He's going to end up as the all time leading scorer in playoff history within 2 years and possibly the 2nd highest assist getter within a few years.

Career APG Regular Season

MAGIC....L11.2
STOCTON..10.5
CP3........V10.0

LEBRON.... 6.9
BIRD........ 6.4
JORDAN..N 5.3

Career APG Playoffs

MAGIC....L12.4
STOCTON..10.1
CP3.........V9.4

LEBRON.... 6.7
BIRD........ 6.4
JORDAN..N 5.7

Lebron/Bird/Jordan are within 1 assist of each other, while Lebron is 3+ assists behind Magic/Stockton/CP3.

So Lebron is on Bird/Jordan's assist level, not Magic/Stockton/CP3.

Btw, cumulative totals are misleading.. For example, Pippen's assist totals were boosted by a longer career, but assist percentages show that JORDAN led the Bulls in passing - he had the highest assist percentage for both 3-peats (http://www.insidehoops.com/forum/showpost.php?p=11713121&postcount=49), so he assisted on the highest proportion of teammate FG's.. In addition to team-leading passing, Jordan led the Bulls in scoring for every playoff series of his career - by an average of 15.4 ppg (http://www.insidehoops.com/forum/showthread.php?t=406920) - and played the best defense ever at his position..

Agreed that cumulative totals aren't everything. Having said that, he's still top 5 in playoff history in ppg WAY ahead of Kobe for example. He'll also end up higher in terms of total points in both playoffs and finals than the like of Kobe.

Nobody is catching Jordan's ppg average in the playoffs but for lebron to end up number 1 in total points is still commendable.

No it isn't - it just means he played longer - the cumulative totals don't show that Jordan scored a whopping 20% more per game in the playoffs than Lebron.

That's a massive gap, so the cumulative totals aren't "commendable" - they're misleading.

Nobody is catching Jordan's PPG

Of course - nobody is even CLOSE to Jordan's playoff average.

Ultimately, Jordan's areas of statistical advantage control the game better - he scored 5.5 more ppg in the playoffs with better clutch and efficiency across the board (TS, FG, ORtg) - these things control the game better than Lebron's 2.5 def rebound edge (with less offensive rebound) and 1.0 assist edge (with more turnovers).

There's never been a #1 option that scored 5.5 more points on better efficiency that wasn't considered the FAR better player.. Can you imagine if Lebron averaged 5.5 more ppg with better efficiency?.. He'd be on a completely different level.

Agreed that Kobe's 33k points mean nothing because all it means is that he played longer. 25 ppg:roll: LeBron is much higher, ofcourse in the regular season, playoffs and finals.
Agree wth you that ppg is where it's at! :lebronamazed:
