Dam, that's a LOT of ads around and on the basketball court. Is this the future of the NBA? geez.

Yes. That is OAKA Arena, which is Panathinaikos' home court. Sponsors will pay like €500,000 euros (US$560,000) to have some of the big on court adds, and some of the ads on jerseys can cost €50,000 (US$56,000) and up to €1 million (US$1,121,000).

Obviously, the NBA finally realized these kind of adds can be like how Nascar makes money, since it's common place for European football (soccer) and basketball clubs to do so. There is no reason for them to just let that money source go. It is a huge financial benefit to European clubs, so it makes perfect sense for the NBA to do the same.

And NBA arenas are already named after sponsors, and the league already has a name sponsor also, as it is NBA officially, but BBVA NBA in sponsorship name. So it's not like the NBA has not already been doing this.

partizan vs crvena zvezda

That's definitely one of the biggest ones in Europe, and maybe second most intense in Europe (Galatasaray and Fenerbahce is up there with it also). But all the players and coaches that have been involved in Red Star vs. Partizan and Olympiacos vs. Panathinaikos have all said Olympiacos vs. Panathinaikos crazier.

I've never heard someone involved in both rivalries say Red Star vs. Partizan was more intense. They always say nothing compares to Olympiacos and Panathinaikos. A lot of them play in Red Star and Partizan first, then get a big contract in Olympiacos or Panathinaikos after. They usually say they are thinking it will be similar intensity before they play in the Athens derby, but then after they play in it, they basically say it's not even that close really.

The players are always saying, "there is nothing like playing in these Olympiacos-Panathinaikos derbies".

They both have a lot extreme right wing racists. They don't have the most "in that area". That area would be the Balkans.

Croatia has more extreme right wing racists than Greece or Serbia.

And if you added all the extreme right wing racists together in Croatia, Serbia, and Greece, they would still be outnumbered by hundreds of millions, when compared to how many extreme right wing racists are in the United States.

He has never said anything even remotely close to that, keep pulling stuff out of that fat ass of yours.

Here's something that actually happened:

Antetokounmpo, an 18-year-old Greek shooting guard and the son of Nigerian immigrants, was selected by the Milwaukee Bucks. He was received this week in Athens by conservative Prime Minister Antonis Samaras.

Nikolaos Michaloliakos, the leader of the Greek Golden Dawn party, likened the 6-foot-9 player to a "chimpanzee" during a television interview Tuesday.

Giannis and his family are used to racially-charged bullying. They were the only black family within blocks of where they lived when the kids were growing up. An early article on Antetokounmpo and his brother reports that the brother was “scorned by the grandstand… in many stadiums in Greece” for being black, and that Giannis had been attacked by a group of racists. Violent anti-immigrant attacks are a signature. Such beatings often go unpunished by police, and an investigation last month revealed that Golden Dawn had infiltrated Greek police forces.

But Giannis isn’t discouraged by the racial hostility in which he’s found himself in the center. In a testament to the patriotism of undocumented people everywhere, he told On Milwaukee, “It’ll be nice that my family can be here in Milwaukee and be away from anything that’s happening in Greece."

Milwaukee is Giannis’s home. He’s already got an affectionate nickname there — they call him “The Alphabet” for his mouthful of a name — and the adoration of his general manager, coach, and teammates.

Spanoulis had an amazing work ethic though with the water bottles and towels. He saw the game on another level at least. It was easier when he came back with those fringe pros. Same with Nando De Colo, his experience with the real pros enabled him to win it all back in the small pond.

Nick Calathes was a third string bum who had to dope up to even sniff an NBA bench. Figures now he's some sort of superstar in the Euroleague.

:lol

If Vassillous Spanelouosious is so "amazing", why has he not returned to the NBA to improve his NBA averages of 2.7 points and 0.9 assists on 31.9% field goal shooting (17.2% from behind the 3-point line)???

Actually Calathes was a 2nd string PG. Udrih played off the ball and Calathes on the ball. Calathes was not a 3rd string PG in the NBA.

Nevertheless, Calathes is a really overrated player. And he's miles upon miles and miles and miles from being a "superstar in Euroleague".

Honestly, I don't know about yesterday's attendance at OAKA, but don't believe any official sources stating it.

Pao's owner is notorious for letting in thousands of fans, over the stadium's official capacity, during the derbies vs. Oly. So 25.000 or more is very probable.

"Official" capacity does not include the lower tier, which is temporary, and most of the seats were added in recent years anyway. It also does not include the media and VIP seats.

So "official" capacity = 18,899

Full capacity seating (how NBA counts it) = 20,000+

Then you have the temporary places in the stands and top deck standing area (standing room - which goes to 30,000).

And yes, the owner of the club, Giannakopoulos, regularly lets in fans for free, once the regular 20,000 seats are filled.

So, 20,000 paid attendance and 30,000 possible standing and non paid.

I heard 26,000 for that game.

And just so people understand the differences, NBA counts all the seats as official capacity, whereas in Europe they don't. Even temporary tiers are not counted.

Also, NBA counts tickets sold for attendance or in arena, which is higher. If there are 15,000 tickets sold but only 2,000 in the arena (yes, this has happened more than once in recent years), NBA lists "attendance" as 15,000.

In Europe, even if 20,000 tickets were sold, "attendance" is the amount of people in the arena. So if 2,000 showed up, attendance would be 2,000, even if 20,000 tickets were sold.

And Euroleague only counts the in arena attendance, but only the fan seats. No one else is counted. Whereas in NBA, every person entering into the gates is counted.

He did it again. As he has done in Game 2. As he has done during so many clutch moments.

Only this time, his basket directly gave to his team the Greek Basket League 2016 crown.

Vassilis “Kill Bill” Spanoulis hit yet one more incredible, last-second three-pointer, one of the countless in his career,
and Olympiacos defeated Panathinaikos 82 – 81 in the second overtime, winning the back to back championship.
The 12th in the history of the club.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Dimitris Diamantidis and Nick Calathes just could not stop Vassilis Spanoulis,
who won his 7th Greek League championship, and his 3rd Greek League Finals MVP.

Spanoulis' late three lifts Reds to 2OT win over Greens and Greek crown repeat

Vassilis Spanoulis hit the last of his 6 three-pointers with 1.9 seconds left in the second overtime
to lift Olympiacos Piraeus to an 81-82 victory over arch rival Panathinaikos Athens
at Olympic Sports Center Athens, and the team's second-straight Greek League championship.

The Reds won the best-of-five finals series 3-1. Spanoulis finished with 25 points and 6 assists,
while Othello Hunter added 14 points and 7 rebounds, and Vangelis Mantzaris scored 13,
including a game-tying triple at the end of the first overtime. The Reds dominated early,
and led 2-13 midway through the first quarter, but Panathinaikos fought back and used an 8-0
second-quarter run to take the lead, which stood at 35-31 at halftime.

Spanoulis hit a pair of three-pointers, as Olympiacos regained the lead in the third quarter.
Hunter also scored twice in the 2-14 run, as Olympiacos went up 39-50. Nikos Pappas heated up,
as Panathinaikos reeled off 11 straight points to even the score, before Hunter made it 50-52
at the end of the third quarter.

The fourth quarter featured four ties, the last when James Gist split free throws with 1:18 remaining
to make it 63-63. After neither team scored in the final minute of regulation, the game headed to overtime.

The lead changed hands on four consecutive possessions, the last of which was a Nick Calathes triple,
for a 70-68 lead with less than a minute on the clock. But after Antonis Fotsis split free throws,
Mantzaris nailed a three with 3 seconds left in overtime to tie it at 71-71 and force a second overtime.

Gist scored on Panathinaikos’ first three possessions of the second overtime, but the Reds stayed close
until the final possession, when Spanoulis’ three-pointer won the game, series, and title.
Nikos Pappas led Panathinaikos with 16 points, and Dimitris Diamantidis, in what may be his last game ever
in a Panathinaikos uniform, tallied 15 points, 6 rebounds, and 6 assists in defeat.

You care to an extreme degree. Otherwise, you would not post in every single topic about Spanoulis, and you would not feel the need to say he sucks and to have to claim that "Giannis is better" in every thread.

You suffer from an extreme inferiority complex, just like LeBron stans.

The fact that Giannis isn't the most important Greek player drives you insane, and you have zero tact in being able to hide it. If you actually had any brains, you would stop posting about Giannis whenever Spanoulis comes up.

It just gives away to everyone what a gigantic inferiority complex you have about your "franchise player".

You clearly are incredibly jealous of Spanoulis, because he is the biggest star in Greek basketball, not Giannis. You posted endlessly bitching about how the Greek national team was run by Spanoulis.......this after you GUARANTEED for months on end it would be run by Giannis.

You are a true idiot and you have a severe inferiority complex. It's funny, because Giannis was in Athens watching the Greek League finals, and he said that Spanoulis is better than almost all the point guards in the NBA.

I don't have any lack of respect for the NBA. I just don't like these clown NBA only fans like Milbuck, that just totally make up fake stories and lies about European basketball on a daily basis here.

It's not a lack of respect to state facts. Spanoulis legitimately is trash and Giannis is better than he ever was by far.

Now that the NBA is going to have corporate ads plastered everywhere, that means team owners will finally build arenas with their own ****ing money right?
