its very smart of them and the a-rabs to buy american real estate. they have tons of money right now and only need to diversify their investments to protect themselves which is not putting it back into the chinese stock market or oil. buying american real estate is as safe and protective as you can get with their riches now.

Yeah pretty much. The libertarian in me thinks this is a positive to some degree since foreign funds are being spent domestically and it is a net positive for the economy since the sellers will make extra money that can be spent elsewhere, the state can levy higher property taxes on the increased value, builders are motivated to develop more, etc etc but at the same time places that were once had a strong middle class (i.e. San Fran, Los Angeles) are now exclusively filled with rich elites. In California there are even towns that consist mainly of Chinese elites and some of these homes are empty. Kids that were raised in these areas better hope their parents gift them their homes or they will also have to move.

I'm guessing they already reached the equilibrium as far as their currency yuan goes. They don't want that yuan to appreciate more than it should because it could make everything expensive back in China. They do their business by mass produce and selling it cheap. They been having a big trade surplus so if they bring their money back in China, yuan will go up and they can't keep the prices low. They were piling up their cash reserve for awhile now with buying our debt and securities but that's no longer an good option for them so now with yuan keep appreciating if they do, they have to put their money somewhere like hard assets etc.
