In '85 he went from washed-up and done in game one, to overwhelming arguably the greatest front court in NBA history the rest of the series.

He also has a great case for FMVP in 1980. Before getting injured in game 5, he put up:

33.4 PPG, 13.6 RPG, 3.2 APG, 4.6 BPG, 55% FG

But also can't deny Magic's numbers as a ROOKIE in that series:

21.5 PPG, 11.2 RPG, 8.7 APG, 2.7 SPG, 57% FG

And in game 5 when Kareem got hurt, he came back to finish the game and put up 40 and 15, including the go-ahead dunk over Erving with about 30 seconds left.

Dawkins joked that he had nightmares about Kareem's skyhook because he made so many on him.

Just a great series by Kareem, and a virtuoso close-out performance by Magic.

Wouldn't go quite that far, but he's up there.

That 71 team was supposed to be the next dynasty, but it didn't happen. Wonder why Dr. J. didn't want to play with him and Oscar.

Nope.......that would be Chamberlain. Jabbar is #2 and Shaq #3. After that is where the arguments start.

Duncan came close when he had a shot at getting another FMVP in 2014. And he's the only player that I can think of about this one.

Kareem is top 2 along with Jordan.
BTW, everybody remembers that 1980 Finals with Magic's game 6 performance but Kareem had just as historic game in the 5th. He got injured, yet he kept playing and (almost) singlehandidly won the game for his team. He was the real MVP of the series.

Kareem was voted FMVP in 1980, but he wasn't in the building due to injury, so they gave it to Magic instead.
