oh the horror

Motherf*cker please :yaohappy:

Apparently people here forgot what Kobe was like back in the day. Curry looks very pedestrian whenever he's not throwing up circus shots.

Curry never was that close the only ones that believed that were trolls or younger generation fans that were too young to remember younger prime Kobe.

Anyone too young to remember prime Kobe, just imagine current Kobe and 10% more of his shots going in. That's it.

Lol not really Kobe was better passer, playmaker, finisher super quick first step and was all NBA defender many years ago. Kobe was great athlete during #8 days.

worse shot selection than Kobe

worse defense than Kobe

Kobe could impact the game in other ways when his shot didn't fall

Yes...but that's not saying much.

No. I said it after Game 2.

On defense, not even comparable. On offense, closer. But still peak Kobe. Just a lot more moves, ability to play down low, etc. But the biggest difference between the two is heart and sense of urgency.

Curry plyes the better the better he does. He is unlikely to die on the court trying when his game is off. And when his shot doesn't fall, you are left with almost nothing.

Curry is great but I never thought he was better than peak Kobe.

Kobe's the 2nd greatest player of all time.

Hard to be better than that.

Apparently you do too.

You're a perfect example of not understanding causation and correlation. You somehow think that if you win you are a positive impact on the team regardless. You don't care if your hero played like ass. As long as he got that W, you care that you can brush off that he played like ass, and in fact claim he played great because of the W.

Curry struggles, GSW struggles.
Kobe struggles, Lakers win championships.

Perspective kids.

prime kobe was on MJs level so no

No, he always was a tier or two behind
That said, with Curry off in offense, Kobe is better

yes he is. Curry last year was getting legit comparisons to peak Tmac who i remember being really comparable to peak Kobe. Defense is an advantage for Kobe but there are some peak years like 06 Kobe where he wasn't that great on defense.

Love Kobe but yeah he is tier below Jordan. Kobe is closest player to Jordan ever though.

he focused more on his offensive production because the team was trash

00-04, 08-10 were his best years in terms of all-around play, 05-07 was a rebuilding period where he just chased scoring titles because Lakers had no chance contending for a title with Kwame Brown, Smush Parker and Brian Cook getting major minutes

Curry is far better than every version of Kobe. Curry this year is literally twice as good as some of Kobe's post-2000 seasons.

ofc but if you choose another year for Kobe's peak(03,08,09 imo) it's pretty hard to argue Kobe's as good as Curry offensively.

He's more skilled offensively. Curry is the better shooter so his efficiency is higher but Kobe never had a team like the 2015-16 Warriors around him.

true, Curry's efficiency would be lower with a weaker team. Could he score like 35ppg however(one reason simply playing more minutes).

If you gave him enough possessions but I doubt that team would even win 45 games.

With Kobe you could run post-ups and his mid-range game was one of the best ever, Curry doesn't have that.

Agreed mostly. People are overreacting to this playoff series. Twice as good is exaggerating but not crazy if you're talking about a year like 2005 or 2012.

Curry would a good screener is still damn efffective. You switch he'll blow by or shoot over the top. You double it's a 4v3 and you go over the top roller has path to rim. They can always run those reggie miller ray allen plays too. Do people forget Allen scored 26.4 ppg on a bad team and he's not the shooter passer or slasher Curry.
