It was not the playing time that matters, it was more of the fact that Thibodeau gave excessive training sessions before/after games that exhausted their players further. Wilt played 48 mins per game, and nothing was wrong, but he would be seriously injury-prone under Thibodeau even if he played only 38 mins a game, because Thibodeau would give him extra and extra training tasks between games.

Pat Riley was also known as such a coach who ran his players to the ground, its not a coincidence that Magic Johnson, James Worthy, Dwayne Wade all had short primes/careers under the influence of Riley. Thibodeau is just, another Pat Riley.
