View Full Version : Does Westbrook dominating over Curry remind of Olajuwon over Robinson in 95?

1995 - Spurs has the best record in the league and the MVP in David Robinson.
Favorites to win it all. WCF against a team with a much inferior record (15 less wins). The MVP got badly ouplayed by a rival Center, Olajuwon, and the Spurs lost.

2016 - Warriors has the best record in the league and the MVP in Curry. Favourites to win it all. WCF against a team with a much inferior record (18 less wins). The MVP gets badly outplayed by a rival Point Guard, Westbrook, and the Warriors loses?

not exactly Drob had poor help during the regular season and had to carry the Spurs pretty hard; Curry's help is great even though 73 wins vs 62 wins accounts for that. Doubt people will say Westbrook over Curry this year too since Curry's regular season edge is definitely bigger than Drob's regular season edge.

Yes, I predicted this would happen even before the series started

Thunder in 6

Our bigs murder theirs on the glass... KD takes a huge dump on Green

Nah.

D-Rob and Hakeem literally went at each other for most possessions, and Hakeem embarrassed (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hW4uXlRGAF0) the shit out of David.

The Warriors team as a whole are being out-played, IMO. Plus Kevin Durant ain't looking too shabby either.

If Robinson was playing with a lingering knee issue?Yes. However he wasn't, so no the two scenarios are not the same

The major difference of course being that Westbrook is shooting 42%, which is terrible (but not bad for him).

No. Curry and Westbrook are scoring very similarly from the field. RW has sizable advantages in assists and foul shots but that doesn't put him on Hakeem's level.

Hakeem played the best series that i have ever seen from anyone, even MJ. He destroyed DRob.

Nah, it's not quite that level of separation. Besides, the Admiral didn't play that bad that series as much as he simply got completely outclassed trying to stop Hakeem one-on-one, which was startling given Robinson's status as a defensive presence. Curry isn't really playing close to his RS standard, and Westbrook has taken it up a notch especially in terms of IQ this series. And let's be real, it's not like Curry has a defensive reputation that makes this all that surprising. It's more about his offense taking a nosedive this series.

If Westbrook would posterize Curry that would be epic like Hakeem's dream shake on DRob, shown time after time after time in the future.
