piecing together information, it looks like he was killed by a gunshot at a stripclub- apparently a security guard didn't have the safety on in his gun or something? sounds immensely messed up and wasteful

" i'm hearing that it was accidental. Someone forgot to put on the safety "

wait, so he was trying to break into an apartment? Why would a NBA player ever conceivably need to do that themselves?

He was set to make 800k next year, and over a million the year after. He finally made it and he's breaking into apartments? He died of stupidity.

Went to the wrong apartment, was going after an ex apparently

EDIT: Could be slightly different
Bryce Dejean-Jones went to wrong floor of girlfriend's apartment. He was locked out, banged on door multiple times.

Sounds like an intelligent young man who had a dazzling future ahead of him as a member of the community. He will be missed.

Tragic no doubt. But why'd he break into someone's apartment at 3 am? That is bizarre and insane. Especially considering he had such a bright future??? If you're locked out go to a hotel.

According to the updated story, he went to the wrong floor, and thought it was the door of his girlfriend's. What a strange accident.

What a stupid way to lose your life...his fault. Drugs were probably involved.

Very tragic. But there isn't much to say other than don't be breaking into people's houses in Texas, you WILL get shot. Hate to say it but only the guy himself is to blame here.
He was an idiot, and his death was his own fault. Simple as that.
Sorry for his family.

why. If you are breaking into places and kicking in doors, you deserve to get shot. This guy is nothing more than a thug, I have no sympathy for someone who does that.

Texas has pretty loose gun laws, so unfortunately his own mistake of trying to, what I can only assume is tending to a late late night booty call, ended up getting him killed.
Dude played with mad energy, shame.
Died for the pvssy. :applause:
Shoulda got the floor right.

Sad story. Can't really blame the shooter. If someone kicks in my door at 3AM, I have to assume they have bad intentions.

It's pretty obvious that he was having issues with whatever girl he was dealing with, she decided she no longer wanted to mess with him, for whatever reasons. Probably ignored all his calls/texts. Instead of taking the hint, he got mad, then came up with the genius idea of breaking into her apartment at 3 am like a crazed idiot.
He picked the wrong apartment. Click clack boom.

he kinda brought that upon himself, but yet again, just another instance of where an innocent man wouldn't be dead if guns were forbidden.

If a 6'6 black guy kicked down my door I'd have shot him too. Multiple times on account of his size.

He kind of caused his own death? Kind of? Did the article you read say the shooter was roaming the halls while sleepwalking with a gun as NBA player looks for girlfriend's apartment?
There is nothing funny about someone being shot and killed but...there is no doubt as to why this accident happened. People do have a right to feel safe in their place of living at 3am. I am sure the shooter is not having a happy day right now.
