View Full Version : Lakers should pursue Paul George and Jimmy Butler

Demar Derozan is not a max level player. He can't shoot and is a lazy defender. Only Paul George or Jimmy Butler have the talent and work ethic to assume as Kobe's superstar heir. Ben Simmons and Brandon Ingram have superstar potential, but the Lakers want to win now.

[QUOTE]
The Chicago Bulls are a mess, and there are rumors that the relationship with Butler is strained, so there has been plenty of speculation that he may be on his way out.

As for George, he seems the least likely to be moved, but Indiana is in rebuilding mode and George

Why do you all you morons think Pat Riley is going to let Whiteside walk? He's already said that signing Whiteside is his number 1 priority this off season...HE'S NOT LEAVING THE HEAT...GET OVER IT.

It's insulting to consider any of those guys Kobe's "heir". I wish the Lakers the best but a Kobe level player probably won't be on the team for decades.

Whiteside is an unrestricted free agent. Miami does not have his bird rights. They can't offer him more money than any other team in the NBA. Plus Heat won't be able to afford both Whiteside and Wade who has been their franchise player. It doesn't matter what Riley's priority is. These are just facts. Deal with it.

Obviously the Lakers would love to have another Kobe, but his kind only comes around once every 10 years or so. Paul George or Jimmy Butler would work just fine in his spot. They both have similar work ethics to compete and succeed.

That team misses the playoffs.

Compare that projected lineup vs this season's heat.

PG: Dragic >> D'Angelo Russell
SG: Wade ~ (Paul George/Jimmy Butler)
SF: Deng ~ Nicolas Batum
PF: Anyone > Julius Randle
C: Hassan Whiteside = Hassan Whiteside

Lakers will not go anywhere with Russell and Randle in the starting lineup. Those guys will be in Europe in the next 5 years.

Deng:
12 ppg on 55% TS%, 15 PER

Batum:
15 ppg on lower TS%, 15.6 PER

Thats a wash if I've ever seen one.

Wade:
19ppg on 52% TS%, 20 PER

Butler:
21ppg on 56% TS%, 21 PER

PG:
23 ppg on 55% TS%, 21 PER

About the dam same for all three of them, if you ask me

Nah more like every 20 years or so if even that I don't think ever see another Kobe again that dedicated to his craft with insane work ethic it's too rare now a days when athletes being too entitled and getting paid more now than ever.

Andrew Wiggins (#1 pick) was traded for Kevin Love a few seasons ago so it's funny you talk about not enough assets. Go back and study all the past superstar trades.

Durant is not leaving Okc after this deep playoff run. They're one win away from the NBA finals.

It's the Lakers we're talking about. They had Kareem, Magic Shaq & Kobe the last 3 decades alone.

Valentine isn't going in the 2nd round. I'm skeptical Thon will make it there either.

With 92 mill projected cap space
George - 18
Whiteside - 18
Batum - 12
Williams - 7
Russell - 5
Randle - 3
Noah - 3
Nance - 1
Huertas - 1
Valentine - 1
Maker - 1

Is 70 mill, so they still have 22 mill to spend on another max player actually

I would be ecstatic if the Lakers can get Paul George and pleased if they can get Jimmy Butler if they can't get PG13. However, I'd rather trade D'Bustaslow instead of Clarkson, because Clarkson >>> D'Bustaslow.

Also Noah at 3 million? :facepalm :hammerhead: :banghead:

I think you're overvaluing a 31 year old player coming off multiple season ending surgeries.

We'll see what happens. Batum should weigh his available options before deciding to re-sign with Charlotte.

NO. Both are overrated but at the right price - maybe if other things fall through.

KD or Westbrook might be on the block this year.

In this market there's no way Noah accepts $3 million

Players like Lavoy Allen are getting paid more than $3 million and an injured Noah has more value than him

How much do you think he's worth then?

Also, as a Pacers fan, what do you think of the proposed trade scenario package for Paul George?
