It's weird, I live near the Bay Area and have always rooted for Klay Tompson. He's been one of my fav players even before he became an allstar. I'm a big fan of Kerr too but as time has pasted I've become less and less a fan of this team and had to also ask myself why.
1) Joe Lacob - I'm a general fan of NBA basketball little more then a reckless homer. So when he said the Warriors were light years ahead of other organizations it left a bad taste in my mouth. It's Jerry Reinsdorf'ish
2) Last years run to the championship - NBA Basketball doesn't have as much parodie as Football for example so we expect to see a "rite of passage" sort of speak in this game. That's why the term "passing of the torch" is a popular saying in the league. We want to see a team (or player) fight there way to victory. So when the Warriors made such a giant leap from average playoff team to elite one it caught us off guard. Couple that with the glaring fact that they played injured teams and didn't have to face anyone we respect, as a fan of competition it was tough to see.
3) Steph Curry - I loved it when he played the underdog roll. This might be more of a product of how he's covered by the media now more then anything he did himself. It's almost treated as if "Curry is doing everything right and everyone else is doing it wrong." His peers don't like it and you can tell. When he has a bad game, excuses are made or it's rarely criticized. Part of this might be a product of how we use to define a "bad shot", Curry has changed that. Though we over look his short comings in ways we don't let his competition get away with. This is a common practice among athlete's and entertainers adopted by white America. We can identify with his style of play, it's not as foreign to us as a player who's stands 6'6 to 7 feet tall and can dunk.
4) Draymond Green - He's just annoying lol.
The Warriors have weaknesses that should be highlighted, they almost "need" to be beat in order to ground us in reality. This is a huge test.
