View Full Version : Greater blunder in NBA history: 2011 Heat or 2016 Warriors?

The super team trio that failed to deliver fresh off the infamous "not 6, not 7, not 8" block party speech?

Or the magical 3 point wonder 2016 73-9 Warriors lead by first ever unanimous MVP Curry?

I can't decide which is a greater blunder :confusedshrug:

In terms of team, the Warriors, although the Heat losing the Finals after their welcome party is a humongous embarrassment. In terms of individual players, Curry will definitely deserve criticism, but after the decision/promising 8 championships, LeBron's Finals performance was more humiliating

Putting aside quotes...its not even close to the same. The Heat won one more game than the Mavericks...not a NBA record 73. They also weren't the defending champions the previous season like these Warriors. (who are supposed to be better last year then they are this year) This Warrior team has been establishing itself for years...it's absurd to compare a teams first year together (no matter the talent) with a well oiled machine who is supposed to be one of the greatest teams of all time. And outside of the big three Miami's team sucked ass...the warriors have more talent overall on their team.

True on paper, but the Mavs had Dirk and 12 roleplayers, the Heat was the first "big 3" superteam in NBA history where every member of the big 3 was still smack in the middle of their prime (usually it's vets). And that heat team was additionally surrounded by vets that were so desperate just to get on board a give-me championship they were signing 1 year vet minimum contracts. It was a stacked team vs an ordinary looking team regardless of their wins/loss ratio. But you are correct that it was mostly embarrassing due to the block party boasting. They basically crowned themselves champs for the next 8 years before they'd won jack, then they go and lose.

valid points  I still think the Heat had at least more talent as far as the top 3 players on their team vs Warriors top 3, plus dat block party tho :D

Either way...you can't compare a squads first year together with a team that is defending champions and only got BETTER this season. Chemistry is big in this game. It also didn't help that Spo had barely implemented any kind of offense in 2011. Their half-court offense was a mess when Wade or Lebron couldn't create something. Defense and their crazy dominant transition game is what got them to the finals that season.

Cavaliers entire history is more embarrassing

Fortunately Lebron may bring them a ring this year

the Mavs were probably the biggest "david" team ever.. led by one older superstar, against an athletic big 3 "goliath".

This thunder and warrior team is very equal, westbrook to curry, durant to klay, role players etc.

so no.. that Heat team was a far bigger blunder.

That 2011 Heat team was extremely flawed. They started Joel Anthony and a near undead Mike Bibby. They had zero depth and no size. The circus of that team coming together made the finals loss embarassing, but from a basketball standpoint the Warriors failing to even reach the finals would be a much bigger disappointment.
