Geez, I just realized I witnessed all the game 6's on your list live excluding the '86 Red Sox collapse.

The Red Sox collapse was probably more epic even though I didn't see it live, how do u let a ground ball go threw your legs? lol.

To answer the OP question idk, but the Thunder's loss tonight wasn't as devastating as the losses on your list.

True, they didn't have their hearts ripped out quite like those other teams, but it's a truly terrible loss. They blew a big 4th quarter lead to close out the series at home and eliminate a historic team, and now they have to go on the road with Golden State having all the momentum. I'd consider it a pretty devastating loss for the franchise

74' Celtics did and beat The Bucks in 7 on the road.

The Reds did, I think 1975, after Carlton Fisk hit the HR that barely stayed fair and the Red Sox won that 6th game

:applause: Good finds, I honestly wonder if it's happened in the last 40 years though.

Also good shout out on the Clippers last year, forgot to mention them. '94 Knicks could be included as well

This could have been worse, not like it was a buzzer beater.

The Red Sox meltdown in 86' was horrible, but they had already blown it before the ball went thru Buckner's legs.

A 2 run lead with NO ONE ON BASE.

Carter singles
Mitchell singles

They get two strikes on Knight, making the Red Sox ONE STRIKE AWAY.

Knight singles, Carter scores.

Wild pitch, Mitchell scores to tie game.

And then the ball went thru Buckner's legs and they lost.

Right after the loss, one of the pitchers who screwed up, either Stanley or Schiraldi, blamed it on Buckner saying "oh it's a routine play, how does it go thru your legs?"

Yeah, it's his fault and not that before that, the bullpen gave up 3 straight singles and a wild pitch to tie the game :facepalm

Then in game 7, through about 5 or 6 innings, Boston had a 3-0 lead.

But of course, they blew it.

That's got to be the most painful pair of losses for any sports fan if you liked the Red Sox

Lakers lost to my Suns in Game 6 at home also and didn't recover. My Suns came back from 3-1 deficit just like these Warriors just did.

The 2000 Lakers were up 3-1 in the WCF and lost two in a row, but still recovered to win the series after losing game 6 to Portland.

Damn imagine Jordan choking like that. That's why Wilt will never be in GOAT consideration.

W's had a 3-4% chance of coming back to win the series once they went down 3-1 based on all the major sports in the past 50 years.

Game 7 was close till the last minutes of the game.
They played very well. The better team just won.

It's easier to recover when game 7 is on your home floor.

Problem I see against OKC is the story of their season has been choking away 4th quarter leads. This is basically the equivalent of that in a playoff series.

GS is a been there and done that team. Perhaps if the roles were reversed I could see GS holding off OKC while letting go a 3-1 series lead. Even on the road at OKC (as you saw how they responded tonight). It's difficult to imagine OKC winning Game 7. At Oracle, mind you. A place where the Warriors dropped only two games all year. Now you're asking OKC to win two games there in a single 7 game series.

Also the 85 Cards in the WS. Blown call costs them Game 6 then they got blown out in Game 7.

I don't know the exact numbers, but a team losing game 6 at home almost never wins game 7 on the road. I think it's only happened once in the last 20 years. The home team wins roughly 80% of game 7's anyway, so needless to say the Thunder are up against some difficult historical odds.

That team had Dirk, though.. no player on OKC as clutch and poised and game 7 ready as he is.

Yep. When the Cubs lost the Bartman game, there was little hope at all for game 7.

Imo that wasn't a "devastating" loss, they lost a very competitive game at home, tough loss for sure, but not as bad as last night, or even Game 5 of that series. It was certainly an amazing achievement though that they could bounce back from two close losses on the verge of blowing a 3-1 lead and win in San Antonio, very impressive

doesnt matter, when youre up 5 with 25 seconds left away from the title, you dont get closer... thats closer than up 3-1 with one home game left.

Okey, but do you think that Spurs lose the game 7 if Cavs won game 6 more comfortably?
That Ray Allen shot may be the best shot in NBA history.
