Dude is younger than Curry. Nothing wrong with being #2 for the next 5 years to a special player in Curry. Plenty of opportunities to be #1.

I remember in 2012 right before the finals everyone thought he was gonna be the next MJ after beating Lebron.

Dude was only 22 and looked like he was gonna win a ring while averaging like 30ppg

Not really. He will turn 28 in a couple of months. He has been in his prime for the last couple of years.... he may or not have hit his peak. He will be in his prime for another 3-5 years.

And during those 5 years, there are other players that will get better, come into the league etc.

The window of opportunity is only open for so long. And t is closing on him quickly.

This. Except KD peaked in 2014. The Thunder have maybe 2-3 years left imo... Westbrook is not going to age well. Can you imagine him at 30-31? It goes quickly at that age...

Just look at Kobe at 28 in '07 vs. Kobe in '10. Completely different players in terms of athleticism. Kobe had the skize and skills to continue to play at a high level after the explosiveness faded, but Russell at 6'2" with his jump shot sure doesn't.

Before 2012 finals/after Game 1, there was consensus on KD being the next face, with Bron passing the torch. We all know what happened.
Then MVP season, he killed the league in RS, I sincerely believe OKC without injuries would have won 2013 and/or 2014 rings.
But injuries and choking killed his run. (WB&KD)
And then GSW/Curry appeared, and more choking. (WB&KD)

Only hope for KD is going to East, for example Celtics.
