Everyone is expecting him to take a cut to stay in Miami
But what if he flips the tables over and takes a huge cut to sign with GS
If they can dump Bogut + Iggy thats enough to pay Whiteside
The questions is:
Bogut, Iggy, Barnes, Ezeli or Whiteside
That's the trade off
Personally Id take Whiteside over Durant. He would make GS unstoppable for the next 5 years

I think he stays in Miami and Dragic will be dealt. Rumors are that Riley hasn't been happy with Dragic's overall performance in Miami, and after his struggles in the playoffs he is actively looking to move him.

Rumors are Miami wants him to take less than the max. If I were him I'd tell them to kick rocks.
As an observer though, Miami's the best place for him. They have a veteran presence to light a fire under him because he's not exactly an internally motivated type of guy.
Don't know if Charlotte has been mentioned but they had zero stability at the C position. He'd make them a pretty damn good team. Very good PG with Walker, defensive specialist in MKG, balanced wing in Batum if they retain him, stretch 4 in Williams. Whiteside fits in well.

Another thing I'll add is that Riley is going to sell Whiteside on the idea that big time free agents will want to come play with HIM. He is the attraction. He is the draw. Other teams might employ the same tactic, but it's not as powerful as the idea of players joining YOUR TEAM. It's an ego thing but potentially an important aspect of retaining Hassan.

if whiteside believes that lie he is better off playing overseas.
Aint nobody looking to team up with whiteside when you got guys like kat, cousins, anthony davis, okafor walking around and YOUNGER.
Not saying whiteside isn't good because he is on my shortlist of centers I think can take certain teams to the next level....*cough* clippers *cough*
But hyping him up as a main attraction???? cmon now...pat riley should be banned from the league if he does that. Who could HE possibly attract there?? I think the main draw would be wade ,yes he is aging, but we saw how unselfish he was when he let bron come in and take over....players like that.
We still haven't seen consistent play from whiteside....one minute he looks like the second coming of shaq and the next minute he looks like a prime Dwight howard....might not seem like a big drop off but it is when you trying to build a contender and ACTUALLY WIN RINGS

He'd be crazy not to stay in Miami. Good weather, decent squad, good pay.

I don't disagree with most of what you said, but it's common practice for a GM to stroke a player's ego in an effort to sign him. I'm purely talking as a negotiation tactic. Whiteside will be getting lured as a franchise centerpiece. For the Heat to retain him, especially on favorable terms, Whiteside will have to believe that he is the foundation for the future. That wouldn't be entirely untrue, although in reality we all know that Wade is still the main free agent draw.

Dude should go to the Lakers. I don't think they are paying anyone shit at the moment. He would also end up the leader of the team.

Miami can't sign Whiteside and Durant, unless Wade takes basically zero and Whiteside takes a HUGE cut.
The most likely scenario is Whiteside signing a deal starting at $16m (equivelent to $18m at Lakers due to taxes), and Wade then signing at $15m. That would leave about $10m to resign the likes of Deng or whoever else.
If they both sign big contracts they will lose Deng and Johnson, and not be able to replace them. If they need to pay Wade and Whiteside, they will need to patch up the likes of Deng/JJ with much lesser players, which they have done in the past too.

Miami's cap situation is ****ed with Bosh and Dragic making nearly $40M. Wade will hopefully agree to something like 3 years $30M. Even if he signs for $10M a year, that's $50M in capspace for 3 players. Going by the assumptions, the cap is going to be set at $92M. That leaves $42M for Whiteside (who'll want max), a backup C, a SF, and a SG.
If we assume that Whiteside signs for ~$15M/yr and we get an elite SF for another ~$15M/yr, Miami will have $15M for Winslow, Richardson, TJ, a backup C, Green. TJ is a FA and will probably not sign for anything less than $6M/yr. Winslow and Richardson will make a combined $4M and Green will sign for the min. ~$12M gone right there and Miami will have $3M for Amar'e, McBob and Haslem. If we decide to bring them back.
Again, this is assuming that the cap is set at $92M. If it's not, Miami is beyond ****ed. Another 1st/2nd round season at best.
