I'm having problem finding players with a small difference between their max and no-step verticals (5" and below). I'm trying to figure out what role a small difference plays in basketball confines. Anyone know what Lebron and Kobe's no-step vertical is?

Smallish
Barnes..... 39.5-38= 1.5"
Wade....... 35-31.5= 3.5"
Lillard....... 39.5-34.5= 5"
Conley...... 40.5-35.5= 5"

Biggish
Derozan.....38.5-29=9.5"
Wall.......... 39-30= 9"
Oladpio..... 42-33= 9"
I. Thomas.. 40-31.5= 8.5"
B. Knight... 37.5-29= 8.5"
Lavine....... 41.5-33.5= 8"
Durant...... 33.5-26= 7.5
J. Butler..... 39-32= 7"
Westbrook.. 36.5-30= 6.5"

Why'd you put Westbrook with his pathetic POVERTY vertical on your list? :facepalm

1.5 inch difference between maximum and no step makes zero sense to me. Not sure how that's possible. Pretty cool though.

Also, interesting thread concept.

Perspective. I think he's right around average.

It's the ability to be explosive from a standstill. It's the difference between Wade's explosiveness around the basket and Derozan's.

Wade has more instant explosiveness anywhere on the court. Westbrook is more explosive on the move.

Westbrook is more explosive on the move.

As long as it's the horizontal and not the vertical.
