View Full Version : Who are current top "analysts"?

Currently watching NBATV file room.
Greg Anthony is terrible, just kissing GSW's butt, that they play perfect, don't commit mistakes etc. Eventho they allowed atleast 8 missed layups.
Derek Fisher said the biggest difference bet game 1 last night and last year was Irving, probably forgetting that Kyrie actually played 95% of game 1 last year. How great he was in the first half, ignoring the fact that he barely passed the ball. He also said "well see.. in the 2nd half, as in Im not sure if he actually saw the game last night.
Who is your favorite?
I don't like CWebb, captain obvious. the worst is Barkley who'll say, I pick this team because they are the "BETTER" team, can't even dissect the complexities, what strategies they use..
for me the best one is still JVG, Doug Collins still is good,
The most promising for me is Bones Barry, the guy uses some advanced stats as who is good in pick and roll defense by efficience ranking etc.

Alot of former players turn analysts aren't very good, JVG is one of my favorites, he is knowledgeable and adds humor, I always liked Steve Kerr when he worked for TNT, the whole TNT cast at the moment pretty much sucks if you want to talk serious basketball, Reggie Miller is annoying as hell, Charles Barkley is amazing because of his humor, but that guy is horrible as an analysts, I still remember during the season when the Clippers added Jeff Green, Barkley crowned the Clippers as favorites to come out of the West, it was really a WTF moment, he also sees the game in black and white and fails to realize the NBA is no longer the NBA of the 90's with his "Jumpers will not win you championship" philosophy. Kenny Smith is OK for the most part, but Shaq isn't very knowledgeable himself.

I thought Barkley had Thunder coming out of the West since the season started? At the very least I think he said that Thunder were the most talented team in the league.

Barkley is always flip floping, he picked OKC before the season started, then he liked the Spurs mid way through the season, then he picked the Clippers to come out of the West when they added Jeff Green. One thing is for certain and that is his hate for Golden State, I don't think I've ever heard Barkley call them championship contenders in the last 2 years and that is despite winning 67 and 73 games, even when the Warriors beat the Thunder in game 7, instead of giving GS credit and admitting he was wrong about jump shooting teams, (Warriors dominated the Thunder from 3 in game 6 & 7) he goes on a rant on what OKC did wrong.

The biggest indicator of Barkley being an idiot (although he is funny) was when he said OKC brought in Randy Foye for the GS series.  He may have even said that would get them over the hump, even when it was clear Foye would hardly sniff playing time.

As for top analysts, the only ones I actually enjoy are JVG and Hubie Brown. Doug Collins too, I guess. That's about it. Kenny Smith is okay when he's not making goofy metaphors.

It is amazing why no one has made Barkley accountable about his predictions. When he is right, he will make sure everybody knows about it but when he is wrong, it's like nothing happened.
I remember last year, he said Cleveland has the edge all because they have crazy player like JR Smith who will make an outrageous shot etc, pointing out that Bulls had one in Rodman. Smith turned out to be a huge dud, missing a ton of shots. :oldlol:
Interestingly enough, he ignored the fact that the Lakers and Spurs did NOT have any crazy player and they combined for 10 rings, add 2 rings from Miami.
Yes, he is a horrible prognosticator but even a worse analyst who NEVER mention about specific strategies.
It's sad TNT is like a US weekly, delivering junk or like a fastfood who just serves bad food, just entertainment without substance. ESPN still is great featuring JVG, yes, I still love Hubie and Collins, these guys dissect games and not like players who point out the obvious.

If by expert analysts you mean nerds who will never date a girl and lives in their parents basement playing video games all day then yes ISH does.

I dont like to brag but Mr. Jabbar is the obvious answer

I greatly enjoy and trust stalker/warriorfan/bigboss/sportjames/rip/sd and a few others i dont remember right now too.

Basically ppl that judge greatness from an eye test/natural perspective, organic, if u wanna call it that way, rather than stat sheets with no context.
