If you are starting a franchise your goal is to bring a product that fans will see and also a team that wins and you can build on.

6'8 260 do it all guy that can also score 23-25 PPG (28-30PPG in his prime)

The simple fact that he was a great player since he was 21 while Curry wasn't even a notable player until he was 25.

And as good as Curry is now, James at his best is still better (2009, 2013).

There's actually very few players I would take over Bron to start a franchise.

He's a tank who never gets injured, he gives you 11+ years of elite play, he's not only a great offensive player but a good defender and most importantly he can mask alot of a teams' weaknesses because of his versatility.

He has his problems but he's extremely reliable.

If I'm the Warriors I'd rather have Curry, LeBron would be a much worse fit with them. Starting a franchise though, LeBron easily. He'll turn literally any roster in the league into a playoff/title contender. Don't think you could say the same for Curry. There's no circumstance I could envision LeBron scoring 29 points combined through two Finals games and having his team win in two consecutive routs

Curry is the ultimate winner...it's all he cares about.

Looking at NBA history, the TWO MOST valuable commodities are:

- Low post big men who can dominate both sides of the ball


- Perimeter players 6'5 and up who are great all around players and great alpha dogs in one. Typically, these guys can play a minimum of three positions at great levels.

Of course there are other great iconic players who aren't either of these. But I would rather build around a Bron, MJ, Bird, Magic, Kobe, Wilt, Kareem, etc. than Steph.

And it's not about Steph's ability either. NOBODY combines shooting, passing, and handles like Steph. But when starting a franchise, I think the two categories I mentioned are the easiest to build around. They cover up MORE HOLES. And the perimeter guys can switch between many positions effortlessly. But to Steph's credit, he's one of the RARE 6'3 and under guards whose dominance is like the bigger perimeter players. Its just the physical side and positional versatility that's the difference

Building a team from scratch, I'd take a 28 year old Lebron over Steph. I'd take Steph over Durant though.
