if it wasnt for them replacing kyrie and love ( 2 shit defenders ) with tristan thompson ( a great defender/hustle guy/epic offensive rebounder ) and shumpert, delly ( hustle guys who are good defenders )

then the cavs wouldnt have been nearly as good

the cavs were soft and overloaded offensively with kyrie/love/lebron on the floor at the same time. they didnt try as hard on defense and love stopped rebounding the ball, stands outside waiting to shoot a three like some stretch 4 role player

healthy or not. the cavs will lose. period

they werent built for the playoffs though

they instantly became a tough grind it out defensive/rebounding team when they replaced kyrie and love

they had a playoff/finals squad and lebron blew it

a healthy kyrie and love will drastically lower their playoff chances IMO

It wasnt about those two specifically but that the Cavs were undermanned. Those are two of your starters and highest paid guys. Now when you replace them with the guys behind them it's fine, but then who's comibg off the bench next? Thats where the prob is.

If they had a quality bench coming in behind that gritty lineup their chances would have been even better - altho the Warriors are still just the better team. That's what it comes down to.

But the Cavs themselves are def better without Irving. I feel like Love can be an asset but they need a full sized center next to him, not Thompson and Love together. Thompson gets by on a great motor but he doesnt "protect the paint" in a traditional sense and obviously Love certainly doesnt.

Start Delly, get a real center (the one Stonehands Mozgov was supposed to be) and trade Kyrie for bench pieces.

BANG.

There is some truth to this. I feel like they matched up better to the Warriors last year, and Blatt did a much better job as a coach. Playoffs are all about match-ups.
