I had flash backs to reading about Nash trying to teach Howard how to shoot free throws while on the Lakers. It seems both Howard and Lebron didn't want to accept the tutelage.

LeBron's jumper was busted when he was young but he improved it quite substantially over time.

First couple of seasons it was ugly to behold.

Not surprised his first coach was horrified daily watching it

He doesn't need his jumper to be at Curry's level. All he needs is being able to hit open shots, the Warriors are giving him EVERYTHING outside the paint and he just can't hit anything.

It must be a mental thing cause he was a much better shooter in Miami :confusedshrug:

This season is the worst I've seen him shoot

there's no vet/skilled shooter on this Cavs team to have him put thru the work ethic IMO. that Heat squad had Mike Miller, Ray Allen, Battier - all who had good shots, but also the strong mindset for the game. and tho I care little for Spo leading the Heat, Spo actually puts in endless work during practice with his talented guys - we see it heavily with Whiteside today and pretty sure it was a lot of the same back then too. Spo's rare upside.

with the Cavs he has JR and Kyrie - explains it all lol

I agree with you.

Look at the passes he can make... Pin point accurate. You never see Lebron make a bad pass in fundamentals. He can hit a shooter anywhere. So it's not hand eye coordination or depth perception.

His jumper can look wet for 2 shots and then the form changes and looks ugly. He's airballed shots that make you shake your head.

Ding ding ding.

What happened to those catch-and-shoot baseline turn-arounds? What happened to the spot-up 3?

It's in his head.

Lebron is a career 31.9% three-point shooter in the playoffs and shot less than 40% from midrange for 10 of 13 seasons (http://www.insidehoops.com/forum/showpost.php?p=12389794&postcount=17).

So other than 2 or 3 seasons in Miami, Lebron has been a poor shooter for his entire career.

He missed over 80% of his jumpshots in the 2007 Finals and 2015 Finals (and he's on pace to do it again this year)..

He's just a HORRIBLE shooter.. Accept the facts bud

Lebron just doesn't have good shooting mechanics, fading back, out of balance, he should have reworked his entire motion early in his career like MKG did, but it's not going to happen at this point in his career.

It is both. He has bad mechanics, but is worse in the playoffs than the regular season because of it being in his head.

this. I think early on the Cavs focused on him being a do-everything player, and don't think they pushed him to be a superb scorer where he'd need to work extensively on his shot. they let his talent do the work and tho it's gotten them better than 28 teams would have, it's hard to get over that one last hump to be the completely dominant player he should be where his shot/scoring would be great and not just good enough to get by.

It was the same in 2012. It's overlooked because he had good numbers overall and they won the series, but he shot 19% from outside the paint in that series.

you don't get it kid.
Bron was a pretty good shooter for a large amount of time in Miami. Even last year in cleveland he was serviceable, he improved from his previous years significantly, yet after being left wide open on purpose his mentality broke down after missing some shots and has never recovered.
It's definitely mental now

Only shows his lack of work ethic and killer instinct. He is similar to Shaq, resting in his enormous physical and raw talent superiority.

When MJ declined athletically, he transformed in the GOAT mid-range scorer and master of fadeaway.
Kobe developed an elite footwork and post game.

Imagine this Lebron with a good to great jumpshoot and a good to great post game ...

When did scoring 37 points on wide open shots become legendary?

When did scoring 37 points on wide open shots become legendary?
Game 7, when the title's on the line.

When 4 of your players (Bosh, Allen, Miller and Andersen) play for almost a combined 80mins and only score a total of 3pts (Andersen had all 3)
