View Full Version : So why is it teams play differently as soon as they go to another arena?

GS dominated for 2 games in a row and now of all a sudden they are the Pistons once they go to Cleveland for Game 3. They can no longer hit shots because they are in a different state:lol I am so sick of the NBA and its scripted a$$ games

Same thing happened in the ECF, when the Cavs destroyed the Raptors first 2 games, then went to Toronto and the script flipped. I honestly don't understand how HCA makes the massive difference it does

It really makes no sense. As Van Gundy says, why don't you just pretend the fans are cheering for you on the road?

There's a lot of fragile egos out there in this Finals. The home crowd and vibe just gives them that confidence to step up.

That's not the only motivating factor, morons. These are pro athletes, criticism inspires better play. Usually. And yes home court can make a massive difference. Players go into slumps, especially outside comfort zones. Increased defensive intensity from the opposition. There's a number of factors.

And not that GS wasn't supposed to lose but a f*cking 30 pt lost after winning by a blowout the last two games?

it's the desperation factor. When you're down 2-0, you're likely going bring more intensity, it's why sweeps are rare even when teams aren't that evenly matched. Also for this series, it's simply the Cavs playing closer to their normal level. Kyrie and JR shot 33% the 1st 2 games, they were due for better games.

If each player gives only a 1% better effort
That's massive in the grand scheme of things

Who had that dumb ass magnets theory? Was that Euroleague? Hah ... Anyway, it's obvious most of you never played ball for your school and went into a hostile environment on the road.

This. It's obvious most of you are beta nerds who have no idea what it feels like to perform under pressure in a hostile environment.

True, Only sweeps that come to mind are
2007 Finals-Spurs 4-0
1989 Finals-Pistons 4-0

Anyone that's played basketball at any level past middle school knows how impactful home court is.

Thunder up 3-1 but start to play like shit and lose 3 games in a row. If that is not scripted, I don't know what else is.

I can't recall a defending champion that has been blown out so many times in one playoff run.

The home court thing is really hard to understand. The desperation factor was obviously big tonight, but if that game was played at GS (all circumstances being equal) the Warriors probably win. I guess it comes down to comfort and familiarity. Those things breed confidence. I've always thought the crowd is a bit overrated, but they play a role as well.

homecourt really seems to matter the most in basketball too which is weird since basketball crowds aren't the loudest. Recently it hasn't mattered that much for a lot of teams in the NFL besides one like Seattle and it doesn't mean shit in hockey and baseball from what I've seen in the playoffs.

Apparently for the visiting team the net gets smaller, the free throw and 3pt lines are further away and the ball itself is different too.
the scores are so lopsided.
i come to your home, you kick my ass by 30.
