View Full Version : Why is nobody giving Kyrie Irving any credit?

All I see is LeBron and Curry threads. Irving showed up in game 3, deserves credit.

I don't think there's a single person on this forum that's not a Lebron Stan troll that won't say Kyrie dominated the end of the 1st quarter while Bron was sucking and really busted the lead open.

Bran was missing layups and turning the ball over while Kyrie and smith and Thompson were killing it.. Then the front runner comes in and pads his stats..
Warriors looked like hot garbage from the tip off

Kyrie and TT blew the game open, while Lebron was bricking, pinging rocks off the backboard, and still being shit offensively. Luckily when he was doing this Kyrie was swishing 3s and TT cleaning up his bricks; then, next thing I know, the giant chump Lebron as is padding his way to a decent statline with his team up 20+.
Guy is shameless. Probably thinks he led the way last night.

If Cavs some how win this series, I want Irving to win FMVP. LeBron would throw games before letting that happen though.

Lebron iced the game. Warriors were making runs and chipping away at the lead before the 2nd half and Lebron went off in the 3rd quarter, turned a 10 pt game into a 20 pt game in the middle of the 3rd with his jump shots. I was impressed.
Irving had a great start and thanks to him they built up the lead but if Lebron doesn't go off like he did GS would still have been within striking distance in the 4th.

it pretty much went like this. Both played pretty well in the 1st quarter with Kyrie being much better and that's when Cleveland built their lead. They lost a lot of their lead in 2nd when Lebron started missing layups but Kyrie really didn't do much in the 2nd either(1/5 from the field). Then both played well in the 3rd with Lebron being much better building a lead again and the game was over by the 4th. Don't know where this narrative that Lebron did nothing to help them build a lead early or that the game was over by halftime came from. He only deserves blame for letting GS back in the game but the only guy who scored well for the Cavs in the 2nd was JR.

yup.. bran was charging in for brick after brick til it was a solid double digit lead, then he got comfortable with his jumper lol. Thats the problem though you cant let bron or his team get rolling because it unlocks his confidence.. curry is the same way. Both these guys are frontrunners.
Was pretty obvious how much more important Kyrie's points were than Brons. He was terrible in the first half, and only looked good when the Cavs had comfortable leads. I was laughing at how bad he looked clanking wild shot after wild shot off the backboard. The only reason the Cavs managed to get and keep that lead in the first half was because Kyrie was swishing 3s and TT was picking up Lebron's bricks and putting them in the basket.

expect this to be ignored... apparently turning an 10 pt game to 20 in the middle of the third is irrelevant.

The same reason nobody was blaming him for anything for the first 2 games? LeBron is all I heard on this board.
Kyrie was terrific last night though. Almost as good as LeBron. He will need to do that again in Game 4 for Cleveland to win, and given his history against GS, that's very unlikely. Last night was his only non-awful game in 5 meetings against GS this season.

Kyrie turning the game from 0-0 to a 20 point lead was more important than LeBron's run.

If they lose it all, time to build around the 24 year old Kyrie next year. He's shown he's capable to grow into a franchise player. Lebron has no choice but to sign so sign him and trade him while he still has value. Make a decision special about it too if wanted as payback. A 32 year old Lebron is only going to hit a wall soon.

Kyrie ignited it offensively and Lebron defensively did a lil of everything. Perimeter D was better due to Jefferson and Lebron being able to switch.
Game ball goes to both because when Lebron hit that 3 then hit 2 consecutive long jumpers, Kerr threw in the towel.
I'll be watching Game 4 just to see how Lebron responds. the jumper looked like MIA Bron. It's all mental with him, maybe that gives him the confidence to take the jumper and make them pay.

Irving is the reason the game was blown open.
Bran got his after Irving gave them the insurmountable lead.

Kyrie turning the game from 0-0 to a 20 point lead was more important than LeBron's run.
Lebron also contributed to that lead.
He started the game 4/4 and with several assists.

Richard Jefferson had a greater impact than Kyrie. A lot of kyrie's points in garbage time.

A Lebron team means he takes all the credit. Doesn't matter Wade played his tail out against the Pacers in 2012, Miller and Battier hit several 3 pointers or Ray Allen made the biggest shot of the decade. Lebron takes all the bows.

I don't know about on ISH, because I had a self-imposed hiatus for obvious reasons, but all I heard from the local and national media in the lead-up to Game 3 was how LeBron couldn't do it by himself and how his teammates were sh!tting the bed. Kyrie in particular actually gets an extraordinary amount of criticism, not just in these Finals but in general.
There are high expectations for him, which I guess is a good thing, but I also think sometimes people forget how young he is. He's still the youngest player on the entire Cavs roster. People tend to think of him as being in the Curry, Westbrook group, but he's actually quite a bit younger than all those guys. He's not even as old as John Wall, Dame Lillard, Reggie Jackson, etc.
There's nothing wrong with having high expectations for young players in big moments, but the guy was having an incredible playoffs coming into this series, averaging around 25 points on close to 60% TS and a 3/1 assist-to-turnover ratio.
Then, suddenly, he struggles a little in the first two games against a 73-win team at home and people are talking about how Delly should be starting and they should look to trade Kyrie in the offseason. It's insane.
Kyrie was great last night on both ends. I actually thought, as good as he was offensively, he was maybe even better on the defensive end. Guarding Curry is a team effort, but he was the primary defender for the vast majority of the game and he stayed in his shirt through every screen, drag, curl and step-back. Really, he's done a good job of that all series so far. It's just that Oracle is a tough place to play and his jumper hadn't been falling like usual.
Last night was beautiful.

Because Lebron stans would rather push the "he sucks" narrative instead of giving him props.

How do you think he performed the first 2 games?
In Game 1, he had 26 points on 22 shots, 4 assists and 3 steals while being the primary defender on Steph Curry going 4-of-15 with 5 turnovers.
I thought that was a perfectly acceptable performance for Kyrie.
In Game 2, the gameplan was clearly to try and isolate LeBron and Love with mismatches and slow the game down to a crawl. Kyrie had, what? 13 shots? He was barely involved in the offense.
The first two games were not on Kyrie Irving... they were on the Cavs' inability to match or even approach the bench production that Golden State was getting. Hell, it was a problem again last night, as the Warriors' bench was their bright spot once again... it's just that the Cavs' starters blew the Warriors' starters out of the water to the point where it didn't matter.
One thing I'd love to know is what happened to 2015 Delly? He's been a shell of himself really all playoffs long. Kyrie can barely come out of the game these days without the opponent going on a run almost immediately.

It's hilarious how some of these idiots want to hate on Irving.
Dude is averaging 24/5 on 57% TS for the entire playoffs and yet somehow this isn't good enough.
Those are great numbers.
It's pathetic how Lebrons only fans treat him.
