View Full Version : Did last night help Curry's chances of FMVP?

Yes, he still looked off. However, statistically I think it helped his averages compared to the other competition. He was the high scorer for the Warriors with 19, and Green who was in first for FMVP only had 6. That helps Curry's average and hurts Greens. Nobody else on the Warriors really helped their averages either with the exception of Barnes, but Barnes is too far behind to win it in the first place.

If they called all the hand checks and grabbing around screens, he'd be shooting like 30+ free throws last night. Rigged

Looks like Curry has the FMVP on lock if the NBA stops fixing the series.

...and his man (Irving) went off for 30.

Igoudala is still doing better than Curry.

This isnt like the regular season where the people voting have barely watched any games. All eyes are on this series, so people will remember his scoring last night was simply garbage-time statpadding.

So far Green has two meaningful performances and Steph still has zero.

Great point. People still like their stats though. Ultimately, the story is what trumps in FMVP voting.

Completely agree with the bold. But the Warriors still need 2 more wins, and if Curry steps up, it is still easily obtainable and the stats can be a tie breaker.

As for the first part, if people truly voted on what is watched, Kobe would not have won his 2nd FMVP. People still prefer the story, and the story was Kobe. If Steph makes the story about him overcoming, he could get it.

People actually believe this garbage still? :oldlol: Hate runs deep.

A few years ago Kawhi was a GHOST in G1 and G2.

What happens late in a series just matters more. Dray has been far more deserving to this point but if Curry has a few big games late in the series he could still get it.

Great point, both Kawhi and Iggy started off as non factors but were great to close the series. If Curry does end up winning FMVP it'll be the 3rd year in a row that happened, arguably even 4th if you want to include LeBron in '13

He would need some monster games and of course a GS victory to win it at this point. Last night didn't help either because anybody watching knew he had no impact on the game whatsoever.

If you look strictly at the numbers, Curry is (amazingly) probably in second place on his team to win FMVP. If he has a couple 20-25 ppg the next 2 games in Golden State wins, unless Green keeps up Curry probably will win FMVP

Pretty much this.

Part of the issue is that the GS bench played so well in games 1 and 2. And, of course, in game 3, virtually no one did for GS.

It's not just the ppg though his impact on the games would have to be there. Last year he had 10 more ppg than Iggy but lost it because of Iggy's Defense and overall impact. If he has 20-25 ppg he has to play overall well and make big time clutch baskets assuming the games are close.

He can still go bonkers potentially in back to back games and win it. He was pretty good to great in the final 2 games vs OKC after having a very up and down series ... And Westbrook outplaying him the majority of the time.

LBJ is so good he will get it even if the Cavs lose.

He should've got it last year.
