View Full Version : Do you think Lebron's farewell tour would be as respectful as Kobes?

Kobe was praised EVERYWHERE and highly respected by former and current NBA basketball players, and coaches.

Even his most hated fans, the Celtics fans, showed him nothing but love and respect.

Kobe was pretty hated during his peak. After the whole rape accusation, trade demand, "ship Bynum the f*ck out" talk he was pretty disliked on ISH as well. Got booed plenty times and many "Kobe sucks!" chants, etc.

Once LeBron has fallen off his pedestal and eased out of the spotlight I feel like people will truly appreciate the greatness. Even the people who blindly hate on his game have to respect where he's going to end up on the all-time scoring, rebound, assist, steal, etc. list and his overall resume. You don't accomplish these things by accident.

Kobe almost singlehandedly made the Lakers irrelevant the last 5 years, of course teams weren't going to boo him, it helped their teams were smashing his as well . :lol

This. It's ironic, but I think it's when Lebron loses his dominance that people will start to respect him.

All greats deserve a good farewell. I cant see lebron having a final game like kobe did. Instead of having 60point he will have 10 point on 60 percent shooting and the crowd will chant efficiency!!

You really think he'll get a tour? :lol Nobody will even acknowledge its his last season, like in Duncans case

That type of stuff is reserved for the greatest player of all time in a sport. Jordan didnt get a farewell tour.

This just proves you didn't watch basketball in 02-03. Jordan's farewell tour was a HUGE deal.

It was a joke compared to Kobe's. Wouldn't consider it a farewell tour. He wasn't even voted into the all star game....no one gave a shit about him.

The fact that Kobe was a larger than life figure with some amazing individual performances (81 points) and the fact that he represented the last of the old school alpha dogs (Dirk and Duncan wont have tours like his), brought out more love than Lebron will have.

As much as some people hate him, Kobe dedicated his entire life to basketball and worked harder than pretty much anyone in the NBA at it. People respect that, despite his flaws in shot selection, etc.

For Lebron, he was great for Lebron fans and Cavs and Heat, but Im not sure his approach to the game is respected in the same way across the league.
