View Full Version : Why a flagrant rather than a technical?

That was honestly the weakest flagrant call I have ever seen. I could actually understand a technical. They got in each other's faces, Green flung his arm at LeBron when he stood up. But he forearmed LeBron in the ass and got a flagrant? He may have been going for the balls, but he clearly didn't hit him there if that was the goal, and definitely should not have been a flagrant.

Was so impressed watching the game how the referees were letting them play 90s style physical basketball... But this foolishness right here takes all that away and we are left back with the same soft league

More like a flagrant 2. You don't throw punches to other player's groin, let alone twice. Ban this mfer forever.

It was the best game the Finals so far, but completely agree with you that this damages the series. I also don't remember hearing anything about "The league is going to have to look at this to see if it is worthy of a flagrant" at least until LeBron was butt hurt on the podium.

A forearm to the ass is not a punch to the groin.

Because a flagrant gets him suspended and potentially extends the series.

refs had it right........no penalty to green.........then the league steps in :facepalm

when no call is made in a game, the league should not be allowed to change calls ...........and hand out penalties days after a game has been played :facepalm

Because a technical wouldn't have led to a suspension.

Now the NBA gets more ratings for game 5, and possible ratings for a game 6 and 7.

This ruling is nothing more than a microcosm of what is happening in the league today. Sure stars got their calls in the past, but LeBron has the referees in his backpocket for the longest of time. Seriously, this guy stiff arms defenders, get hit by his teammates and the other team gets called for the foul. This man is a demonstration of the decline of manhood in the 21st century.

Otherwise known as disrespect for the game.

He's not that valuable. One good game the entire playoffs doesn't change that.

If NONE of you know the difference between a flagrant foul and a technical foul by now there is literally no hope for ISH.

Technical fouls are for dead ball situations, generally for arguing with an official or the like. It is NOT a technical foul to hit a player during play. Period. It is a foul or flagrant. And a player who has repeatedly hit his opposition in the nethers all playoffs long is FINALLY being held to account.

He didn't even get suspended for this clear violation (Dahntay got a F2 for doing less just a few weeks ago). He merely got a flagrant 1. It was the takedown in the first round, the kick to the balls of Adams, etc that led to the suspension.

Well additionally, technical fouls are for non-physical infractions. This was clearly physical. Not really any room for interpretation here.

Draymond could've prevented all of this. Quit hitting people in the nuts. Not a difficult rule to follow.

He didn't hit Lebron during that exchange though.
