Which player is better? Messi or Maradona?


Here is the ultimate question:

You are the manager of both Argentina and current Barcelona. Your instructions from aliens are to win both the World Cup Finals and the Champions League trophy in the same year. On your team, you can either choose to keep Messi, or not have Messi and replace him with prime Maradona.

WHAT DO YOU CHOOSE? MESSI OR MARADONA?

PS: If you don't win both the World Cup and Champions League, your home nation of Argentina will be blown to smithereens by the aliens, in this hypothetical situation.

Diego Maradona.

The aliens would fly back to wherever they came from if they saw Maradona walk onto the pitch. Plus, the people of Argentina would gamble their country with a guy they consider God than a guy like Messi. If you're going to lose, you lose with your best player in history. Argentinians don't like Messi.

Maradona carried a not very impressive Argentine side to the WC vs a talented German team and almost pulled it off again in 1990.

Messi choked in the 14 WC with a better Argentine team that Maradona ever had.

Messi is surrounded with basically the Spanish National team, who only won the WC in 2010. Talk about stacked.

Maradona led a second tier Italian club, Napoli, to a Calccio title, their first IIRC.

Mardona > Messi, all my Argentine friends feel the same way too.

Maradona. Dude faced much harder, tougher defenders who were allowed to get away with a lot more than players nowadays can. He was literally kicked to pieces by the hatchet men in La liga when he played for Barca. Under todays rules he would have torn it up even more than he did in the 80's.

Also Maradona was/is a madman, Messi is so boring by comparison.

Messi bottled a one on one with the goal keeper in the World Cup final at 0-0.... while his backline carried him through the KO stages.

Ronaldo's 2004 and 2012 European Cup are better than any Messi international tournament, ever. Not even mentioning Maradona '86.
