I have a feeling I'm gonna have to replace my conventional water heater sometime within the next two years. What are some of my other water heater options? Experiences?

The tankless water heater tech has really gotten good. I have a buddy who works for Hubbel Hot Water, and that's what they do. They do it on a massive scale though. They have contracts with businesses, mainly the US Gov't, and do all the hot water for The Navy, so all the passenger vessels. They also do the oil rigs on the water, which is not gov't owned.

I don't believe they sell retail at this point, but I have a few buddies who've gotten them to install for research purposes, and they both love them. It heats up just about instantly, allows for limitless hot water as you need it, like streaming hot water, instead of downloading it into a tank, you might describe it as. They both love them.

Another friend at work got one done during a remodel as well, and he didn't have quite as smooth an experience. Not getting hot enough. A lag in getting hot. Not staying hot enough. But he seems to have gotten all tuned in. That was four or five years ago though.

I have a well , so an inline water heater doesn't work , unless I get a water tank , to bring up to room temp.
I had gas for years , but my current electric , is very hot and little electric to boot.

Walter White would agree with a tank-less water heater. hot water on demand is great. takes up less space as well!
