View Full Version : NBA could shoot themselves in the foot if Cavs win.

It would be the ultimate "dont even try in the regular season" message, not worth it. Could lead to a very shitty regular season effort by good/top teams.

That message is already there.

The Spurs lost in the second round this year. The late 2000's Mavs and Suns also liked to prove that statement to be true as well.

Everyone already knows that the NBA regular season is garbage. It's the reason why the NBA doesn't have more fans in general.

Very little intensity.

67 win Mavs already proved this.

I've said this all year that if GS manages to lose the chip, it is the ultimate lesson. They will be nothing more than an historic poster child for why it's not worth chasing RS records. If the best regular season team ever drops a G7 on their home floor (the same G7 that they worked all year to get at home), then yeah... it's likely that even some West teams are going to start to sandbag even more than usual in the RS.

It's already like that to an extent in this league (most meaningless RS in 4 major NA sports bar none), but this will just become the huge example the whole league will point to for years to come.

It would be a TERRIBLE indictment against regular season effort from elite teams, which is unfortunate. That being said, I still can't wait for it to happen. LeBeast.

Too much whinging from a lot of the Bron haters on here.

They'll go back to their regular trolling if GSW pull it off though. Always remind them of how shook they were heading into game 7 regardless of the result though.

Anyone who makes these pre-emptive excuse type threads is seriously out of touch. :oldlol:

Just like the NFL shot themselves in the foot when they fixed the Super Bowl, and made the Patriots lose in their 16-0 season? :facepalm

What do you mean NBA could shoot themselves in the foot? The teams decide the games, not the NBA.

I am told Game 7 officials are D. Crawford, M. McCutchen and M. Callahan. You don't need to wait till Sunday to find out.

Just so I can confirm we are on the same page:

Are you suggesting that the NBA should rig it so your team wins so LeBron stans don't line up for a train on your ***?

Watching all you Kobestans and Currystans lose your **** has made my day.

^^^ This has always happened.

The regular season has never been as competitive as the playoffs, which is why regular season dominance has frequently NOT translated to postseason success (i.e. 67-win Mavericks in 2007, and 66-win Cavs in 2009), and heavily-favored teams frequently get upset (2011 Heat, 2004 Lakers).
