At 31, LeBron James has already played more Finals games (39) than Michael Jordan (35), Kobe Bryant (37) and Tim Duncan (34).

Last LeBron stat for the night: Heading into this postseason, he had never tallied more than 30 dunks in a postseason. This year? 42.

Of course he's played in more finals games than those 3. Extended series plus MORE series equals more games. Duh.

Damn that 2007 PER legit? He had a lower PER than last season Kobe? :biggums:

It takes 30 PER for him to win a chip. So this one is his.

Averaging over a 30 per for his last 5 finals :applause:

Seeing those numbers makes 2011 all the more puzzling, especially since he'll go down as an all-time great finals performer. Hard to explain.

Same with seeing Wade's 2013 and 2014 Finals

Wade had a 20+ PER in the 2013 finals.

To be fair - 2006-07 Spurs were #2 in DRtg and #1 in Opp Pts/game. Props to the 36 year Bowen who averaged 41.7 minutes per game (compared to Lebron's 42.6) and a prime Duncan. They cut off the paint/rim and forced him into contested jump shots. The Cavs were just happy to be in the Finals.

Many of these are off cuts...he's cutting nicely off the ball these days and Thompson and Love are good passers to get it to him.

I'm sure he also has a lot of dunks off fast breaks from his own steals, as he's playing the passing lanes on defense very nicely

Yes , That Spurs Team were reverse match up for Lebron . But it's about Lebron's mentality too .

I mean , Mavs and 13 Spurs were that type too . Zone defence , forcing opponent to contested longe ranges etc. . But he did play very well in game 1 of 2011 finals . Or Game 6 and 7 of 2013 finals . It's a tough situation for Lebron , but he can grow that too much in himself .

I know people don't want to credit the Mavs defense. But the Mavs had a gameplan for LeBron. Part of it was the zone that would morph to man to man and back to zone.

It confused the hell out of him.

Mike Miller was the best in 2012 with 33.7. Need i say more? No ones cares about PER.

While Carlisle had an incredible defensive scheme, that Finals were still very winnable for the Heat.

Exactly....save yourself some time.

Mike Mlller - 44MP

LeBron - 220MP

The Mavs deserve plenty of credit, and as you mentioned, Carlisle implemented a terrfic gameplan. That being said, part of the reason the zone was so effective is because Bibby was atrocious. The disppearance of his shooting is the most overlooked aspect of that series. Despite Lebron's poor performance, if Bibby shoots anywhere near his season averages the Heat would have won.

I don't care much about PER. But here's raw statlines, alongside TS%, Effiency per game and Eff per min.

This way far better than looking at PER . But context is necessary , it's raw stats . Like measuring allowed defensive force , how many possesions players played , assists and points sharing , defence etc etc ..
