View Full Version : Can we stop overrating the 96 Bulls

As the greatest team of All-Time? Regular season wins are great and all.. but the playoffs is a totally different animal (as we saw this year). There's plenty of teams that could put an ass-whopping on the 96 Bulls in a 7 game series.. 2001 Lakers would abuse the 96 Bulls IMHO.

Bulls swept Shaq's Orlando (60-22) that year. SWEPT. 4-0.

Huh?

Best overall record, dominating teams night in and night out, including damn good teams, winning the ring in dominating fashion.

Hell, they should've been 74-8 in the regular season and 15-1 in the playoffs, but ****ed around their last two regular season home games (losing both by one point) and took their foot off the gas after going up 3-0 on Seattle (only they knew how to not let a team come back on them).

Shortened 3 point line puts and asterisk on that season

Actually, if anyone paid close attention, nearly all of the losses the Bulls had in '95/96 we're just by a point or a few except for the Miami game. GSW had a few really bad stinkers this past season where they lost by 10+ points.

what does the shortened 3 pt line got to do with Bulls winning the title that season? They didn't depend on 3 pt shooting like some overrated chokesters out there

I do believe it was a shortened 3pt line for opposing teams as well... not like the line 'magically' got shorter only for the Bulls, lol. Ridiculous.

honestly the 70's to the 90's is the most overrated era of any sports including basketball. Go take a look at any video and just see how skinny and unathletic most of the players are. Sure you get the occasional roid junkie but in this day and age everyone is in top level conditioning.

Its pretty safe to say that Kobe, Curry AND Lebron are all far better players than the likes of Jordan, Magic, Bird, Wilt etc.

The game has evolved, it used to just a slightly more intense version of pickup ball. These days the game is rigorously scientific and specialized in its approach. Not a single player from the nineties could cut it.

Your asking a LeBron* fan... don't waste your time.

What context do you want?

Difficulty of opponents, schedule, other teams in the league, title run, etc.

All of a sudden, as soon as GSW broke 72 wins, it became about how they do in the playoffs... :oldlol:
Then there are teams with better playoff runs, so it is then about total record... :oldlol:

The 2000 Lakers played in one of the toughest WC ever. They, and the 16-1 Lakers the next season have a good claim. As do the 67 Sixers. As do a few other Laker teams. As do a few Celtics teams.
