View Full Version : Is Stephen Curry ever going to recover after the worst humiliation in the finals ever

We all seen that Curry is the type of player that thrives and swags when things are going his way, but withers and chokes when things get tough and when things are not going his way.
Now that he's starred in the biggest choke in NBA Finals history, lost with a 73 win team, lost with a 3-1 lead with HCA, getting humiliate multiple times by Lebron, getting the game 7 game winner shot in his face, and missing the potential game-tying shot. Is he ever going to recover his swag and his game?
Based on what we've observed, I would say no. Curry peaked in OKC.

It's a valid question. He wasn't even great in the finals last year either. 2 straight MVP's, but 0-22 in FMVP votes. Getting outplayed by a 24 year old this year, gave up the series clinching shot and couldn't even hit the rim when he had his chance. You know this stuff is starting to get to his head and we saw it on full display during these finals. The Cavs may have permanently mind ****ed the fraud.

I question if you even know what that means. Going for the bulls record really drained them in the End. Tank just looked empty....and they still came one possession away from winning the title. Next year I expect to see minutes handled a little differently and I think curry will once again be right in the middle of the MVP race.

He will never, but anyway hes declining so hes not getting another ring even if he recovers.

No, but getting outplayed by a guy that young drains confidence when you're the supposed MVP. I can understand Lebron, but the UMVP got destroyed and owned all series by 2 players on the other team. :lol He's a fraud.

He'll be better because of this.
It's just that last year, he got to skip a step in winning a championship. Most great champions had to withstand a heartbreaking loss before they come back and win it. Last year because of circumstance, he never was challenged. This year he was challenged and didn't know how to handle it. By the virtue of his team's greatness, he got this far but they were all shook.
What happened this year is what would've happened last year if Cleveland had been squad up.

It's a lesson for him. He needs to add more to his game. The cavs showed that all his three pointers don't matter. He needs to improve his basketball iq big time. He averaged more turnovers than assists this series. He also needs to work on his midrange game and penetration. He should watch more Kyrie tape and try to work done of his game into his.
30 percent shooting in a game his team needed him most will haunt him for some time

of course.. you guys are all prisoners of the moment.. curry may not be top 10 GOAT potential but he certainly has Dirk ish potential. People forget Dirk choked away a 2-0 pretty much a 3-0 lead in the Finals in 2006, and then took a 67 win team the next year to a first round loss. Dirk was called soft, a choker etc all the same stuff as steph right now ... 5 years later he led one of the most dominant title runs in NBA history w/ shootin the ball. Thats the thing about shooting, it never goes away. Curry could have nash like longevity for all we know and rattle off a few superstar titles.. never know.
So Curry could.. next year, few years from now, whenever, catch fire and shut you guys up again. There have been many players that were considered better than Curry that had worse playoff series than he just had.. Lebron, Kobe, Wade, Garnett, Dirk we could run down the list.. all great players have had their low points.

Dirk didn't even suffer a major MCL injury during the playoffs too.

Curry needs to get healthy and he needs to stop looking to shoot first so often. Being more focused on distributing the ball instead of trying to see how closely to the halfcourt line he can knock down shots from would make them a better team in the playoffs.

30 percent shooting in a game his team needed him most will haunt him for some timeThat was kind of the odd thing about his postseason run this year. His field goal percentages in the paint and in the restricted area were astronomical for a guard throughout the regular season. It seemed like he was always two steps ahead of the defense for the vast majority of the year. Each time it looked like, "Oh boy, he's about to get destroyed by Dwight Howard, Curry would have some kind of crafty finish that he'd make look so easy.
I believe he shot 66 percent from the restricted area in the regular season, which placed him fifth in the NBA behind only DeAndre Jordan, Dwight Howard, Hassan Whiteside, and LeBron James. That number dropped to something like 52 percent in the postseason and 47 percent in the finals.
I understand the kneejerk reaction is to say that he couldn't handle the defense in the postseason but after watching him all year, and the shots he was finishing under serious pressure, from the oddest angles, he looked like a completely different human in the paint during the playoffs. Suddenly even mostly open layups weren't even a sure thing, and that's alarming when you're talking about a guy who hit nearly 70 percent of those shots for the first 80 games of the year.

People seem to forget that Stephen curry was born with a silver spoon, always had anything he wanted and had the road paved (just imagine being the kid of a decent nba player). He showed that he doesn't have the grit and determination, that we see in Lebron where everything he did was EARNED AND NOT GIVEN. So yeah he'll probably be over it, but his road has been so easy which will help him.

Was his tank empty in G1 as well where he scored a whopping 10 points? Cut the excuses. The stage is simply too big for him and Klay too really.

The same stage he was on last year and won. Yea makes a lot of sense kid. And of course if he was gassed the whole playoffs he was gassed game 1. Stop asking dumb questions. Team was running on fumes and it was apparent in the okc series.......and still came a minute away from winning it all this year.

Lol. Steph Cucky really shit the bed in a way that I'm really not accustomed to seeing.
But he'll be back..
Hopefully he gets his ass in the weight room and start looking like a grown man (even though sources says he deadlifts 400Lb)
He needs upper body strength. Dude gets ragdolled far too often on the court.
Needs to play out of mid post more often, as well. His mid range is so nice that I'm not sure why he doesn't get more of them.

Little fakkit broke his back carrying his suitcase.
Overall body strength could've helped him prolong his career

Not the same. But I see where you're going with that. However, someone with the explosiveness of Westbrook is definitely capable of deadlifts of deadlifting that much.

He was tough as nails. But him being a little bit stronger would've preserved his body for more than a handful of games in his last 2 seasons.

Curry is going to be able to rest his injured knee and get healthy and come back better than ever
All this "is Steph ever gonna recover?" shit is absurd
Steph is a full grown man, full grown men dont get shook
It's wishful thinking to say that Steph is just going to go away because he couldn't play up to his normal standards after suffering an MCL injury
Curry will be back, GS will be back in the Finals, and Curry will still be dominating
Next year we will see if LeBron can catch Golden State with Curry, Iguodala, Bogut injured, and Draymond suspended
Doubt it doe
Remember: as you read this post, Curry's MCL is healing
