finally they will have a reliable scorer.

Why would they want Dirk on the team?
This can't be true.

Why wouldn't they? He would give them the one thing they are missing: a reliable mid/post game.

finally a good post move player.

i don't see dirk retiring in anything other than a mavericks jersey.

he doesn't need to ring chase.

Post, experience, good locker room guy. Cant see him leaving Dallas though.

There aren't enough shots for Curry+Klay+Dirk on one team.
Unless Dirk signs a dirt cheap contract and accepts a very reduced role, I don't see it happening.

Why? Lebron will now have an easier access to the basket.

We seriously gonna act like this will happen?

Dirk a Mav for life, and if not I will have lost all faith in basketball

Meticode

I don't see this happening. I think Dirk said he wanted to be a Mav for life. If he didn't already have a ring I think he might be tempted, but he's got a ring and I think if he played another 2-3 years without a ring he can live with that since he already got one being an underdog.

I think Joakim Noah or Al Horford are more realistic acquisitions they should be looking at, but I can see why they want to probe to see Dirk's interest. People can harp on Noah all they want, but he was dealing with nagging injuries and a new coach that changed the way the whole team played. He's still an elite passing big-man and I think he can still be a great defender. Him and Green would be funny together yelling on the court all the time.

It wont happen. Dirk will retire as a mav.

But Dirk would give those warriors veteran leadship and a steady midrange threat. He would be dangerous out there with the second unit (iggy etc.)

could you imagine Dirk defence? with Curry? They just need to get Melo and defence disaster would be complete.

I'm not surprised after those bricks in the fourth quarter .

ArbitraryWater

He probably retires a Maverick, but youre wrong if he wasnt pissed/sad over receiving zero help this post-season, while actually still being capable of doing great things out there, at his age... he deserved more, he probably knows it too. Maybe hes too humble to think about it.

Dirk Nowitzki: "The only way I would ever leave is, like I've always said, if we start five rookies."

Well that was fun while it lasted, good thread guys

Why make this thread? It'll never happen. Dirk is the kinda guy that stays with his team his entire career.

Well he would definitely help with their fourth quarter scoring thats for sure.

Yea...he's been so selfless for his entire career, but you could tell he kind of looked around this year...and last year...and thought;

"I'm still a really good player capable of 21/8/2 56% TS over these last 2 years in the playoffs...and after all this loyalty...I'm rewarded with this shit"

I hope he doesn't leave, but I wouldn't blame him going to the Warriors. He'd help them so much...and they'd help him so much as well covering up his flaws.

Would be fun to watch, but maybe the Mavs put something decent around him.

But man...as a competitor...it would be hard to turn down playing on the Warriors coming off the finals loss for the last 2 years of my career if I was Dirk.

How much help does Curry need?

Stringer Bell
06-21-2016, 02:39 PM
Well they could've used another reliable scorer with some post play and mid-range game which Dirk could give. At the same time you can just say they could have used another big guy who could help out with the interior defense and boards. Noah would be a good addition provided he is healthy.

Either way they would have won with that extra part, hell they should have won anyway but choked.

PejaNowitzki
06-21-2016, 02:42 PM
I think they'd be better off chasing Horford or Gasol.

Dirk isn't going anywhere. Besides, he would have to come off the bench to play for us.

PP34Deuce
06-21-2016, 03:30 PM
Would be dangerous.

With Dirk, you can interchange with him and Green at 4-5. Small ball gets dangerous with one of the first big men that excelled in small ball.

Kerr's blue print for Golden state really echoes Spurs defensive discipline + Phoenix suns carefree offense + Nellie small ball = Golden State warriors.

you have 3 knock down shooters in that lineup. Golden state gets a Trevor Ariza type SF and they are dangerous offensively.

perfect fit becuz dirk is so slow in transition that he"ll have a bunch of wide open threes by the time he gets to the other side of the court since the big men will be focused on protecting the paint

bogut can do great things with the 2nd unit and curry/klay have a reliable big guy scorer to space the floor

i know it wont happen but man i hope it does, we need german jesus

Dirk would have to take the David West discount for this to happen. Possible but really unlikely. Golden State would be laughably stacked however. That bench of Dirk, Iggy, Livingston, Barbosa, Ezeli/Speights is arguably better than the current Mavs.

TonyMontana

I hope it happens.

Let's be real, in todays league there are only 4 teams in the entire league that matter/are worth watching.

Dirk is taking paycuts and wasting his career for some billionare owner in Dallas that isn't doing shit with dirks sacrifice.

All the interesting players mind as well just go to those top 4 teams since the rest of their teams are irrelevant anyway. It was sad watching almost 40 year old legendary Dirk try to carry a bunch of bums against OKC in the playoffs.

Money will not be the reason Dirk turns this down...LOL...you don't know Dirk if you think that is the obstacle.

He'll turn it down out of loyalty to the Mavs, his family, and what he deems a really cool feat of playing 20 years with the same franchise.

Those will be the reasons he stays...it won't be about money. Unless something has drastically changed for him financially.

2nd line and 1st weren't all related but yea it sounded that way. First sentence was more about how the Warriors could make it work. 2nd sentence was just about the possibility of Dirk leaving for the reasons you said.

Adding the best shooting big man of all time to the already best shooting team of all time PLUS 50/40/90 Durant

INSANE, the NBA can't let that happen, it would be boring af

Curry
Thompson
Green
Dirk
Dwight
