Damn, that boy is top 5 player in the league.

So impressive, FMVP just around the corner for this guy. Lebron will easily get some rings of this guy in his late 30's.

He's only 24. Been watching this kid before most on here were just a twinkle in their mother's eye.

lol...I guess that means that there are at LEAST 3 more pg's in the top 5...since Curry, CP3, and Westbrook are all significantly better.

Damn, that boy is top 5 player in the league.

ESPN had him ranked #8 overall in 2013.

"Irving, Grant Hill, Magic Johnson and Oscar Robertson are the only players in NBA history to average at least 18 points and five assists per game while shooting at least 45 percent from the field in each of their first two NBA seasons."

He's a legend after just Game 5 and that Game 7 shot. Let alone how good the rest of his series was. Don't forget the clutch Game 1 block in the Finals last year.

So happy for this guy. He always comes up in big moments and all the criticism he had as the main guy before LeBron came back.. all the criticism about him and LeBron not meshing well through the struggles.. all that goes away after that performance.

After watching this Finals series and taking into account he's only 24, I would take Kyrie any day over Westbrook and defs over cp3.

Tell me Westbrook wouldn't have f*cked up that last few minutes of the finals if he was in the same position...and no way he hits that 3.

Irving going to steal all of Westbrick's shine.

This. You might win more regular season games with WB as your best player. But not even a debate who the more clutch/smarter player is. Westbrook is the dumbest superstar in the league by a mile. Curry handed him his ass the last 3 games of the WCf.

Also let's not forget that Kyrie is actually super fun to watch. He will be the poster boy in a few years for this league. He's still 24 while the top 3 guys are around 30.

No doubt. Gilbert on his knees in front of Kyrie behind closed doors is inevitable.

Elite? No.

He still doesn't pass or play defense. He's nothing more than a streak shooter who just happened to get hot this series.

He's basically the Carmelo Anthony of PG's and LeBron's coffee bitch.

Selfish me-first guy who just happened to not clank his crappy shots.

He's literally one of the most efficient iso scorers/shooters in the league. Wasn't Carmelo considered at least a top 8 player at one point?

The guy just averaged 25+ points on 48/44/88 splits for the entire playoffs.

Got hot in this series? Do you watch professional basketball? He was the Cavs' leading scorer coming into The Finals for god's sake.

He was also all over Steph Curry all series long... defensively excellent throughout the Finals.

He's the guy who turns it up when the games mean more. Go ahead and get behind the guys who play regular season games like they're Games 7s just to get their stats up. I'll go with the guy who comes up huge in the biggest moments.

Don't forget he spent this regular season coming back from a fractured kneecap. That same injury held Blake Griffin out for an entire calendar year.

Kyrie used the regular season to get himself right.

Last year, when he came into the season healthy, he was an All-NBA player... at 22.

It makes me laugh how some people act like regular season production is better than having a run like Kyrie just had. In the playoffs and Finals... that's where legends are made. The regular season is just a prelude to the games that actually matter. And, he was 100% unstoppable in the games that matter more than all of the others combined.

Without Lebron, Kyrie Irving is Damian Lillard. (maybe...I doubt he could have led that blazer team to the playoffs) You guys are massively overrating him. No team will ever do anything with him as their best player...he is not a top 10 player.

He was the finals mvp in many people's eyes.
LeBron
Curry
Leonard
KD
Kyrie.

It doesn't matter what you think he might be in a different situation. He was just a huge problem all playoffs long for every team he faced and then he completely outplayed the 2x unanimous MVP in The Finals, which included clutch play throughout and "the shot" which ended up being the Game 7 game-winner.

So, all of this, "well, he'd be such and such if he were here or there..."

Meaningless.

What he just did can never be taken away and he's just 24. Plenty to add to that legacy.

At that very young age, he's already amassed a heck of a resume...

2016 NBA Champion
2014 FIBA Champion
2014 Most Outstanding Player of the FIBA Tournament
2x Eastern Conference Champion
3x All Star
1x All Star MVP
1x All NBA
2011-12 Rookie of the Year
1x Rookie-Sophomore Game MVP
1x 3-Point Shootout Champion

Kyrie Irving playoff stats

25.2 ppg (7th best)
47.5 % fg(2nd highest of top 10 scorers in playoffs)
44% 3 pt fg( highest of the top 10 scorers)

The kid is elite and had a better playoffs than lillard ( below 40 percent shooter for playoffs) curry( outplayed by Kyrie worse fg and 3 point percentage) Westbrook (far worse shooter and scorer)

. Kyrie is elite. If you're still arguing that he isn't after averaging 27.1 , outplaying the first unanimous MVP, holding the "best shooter ever" to career low shooting averages and hitting the game winning shot in game 7 of the finals I don't know what to tell you.
