View Full Version : Y'know how some say it's better to make the Finals and lose than to not make it?

Shouldn't that apply to making the playoffs as opposed to not making the playoffs?

So, there's this troll who likes to repeat "1-9" in regards to MJ's early Bulls teams not faring well against two very good/great teams of the 80s--the Bucks and the Celtics, one of which (the '86 Celtics) is considered by some to be the GOAT team.

But, said troll tends to ignore the fact that his boy Lebron MISSED the playoffs his first two seasons in a weak Eastern Conference. Lebron also had a teammate, Zydrunas Ilgauskas, who was an All Star in one of those seasons (2005), whereas MJ had no All Star teammates during his first 5 years.

Now tell me, which is better--making the playoffs in the highly competitive Eastern Conference with a bunch of scrubs and going 1-9 against very good/great teams...or missing the playoffs altogether two years straight, while having an All Star teammate? In other words, going 0-2.

Well, there goes the whole "1-9" argument. Everytime it's mentioned by a lebron stan they are shitting on lebron due to "0-2". :lol

What record did Jordan make the playoffs with?

Lol wut? Jordan's teams were making it into the playoffs with the shittiest records ever. 85-86 Bulls were 30-52 making it into the 1st round meanwhile the 04-05 Cavs were 42-40 and couldn't even make it in. But sure lets go on about how "weak" the East was back then for LBJ

Those were the records of the teams that MJ made the PO's with. The fewest number of games a LeBron led team won was 35 and he missed the PO's. Missed the PO's after winning 42 games as well.

1-9 before Scottie is pretty embarrassing though, tbh. I say this as a huge LeBron hater.

Didn't they make the playoffs with 38 wins one season? How can you say LeBron's east was s.hitty, when Jordan's was even worse? Here is the thing with Jordan, he didn't do anything until Bird's back was done, Magic got AIDS, and the Bad Boys got old. And than when he started winning titles, he didn't beat anyone impressive. Prime Ewing wasn't even as good as Prime Dwight Howard. And Reggie Miller wasn't even as good as Prime Ray Allen. And these were Jordan's two biggest rivals in the East most of his career. Not to mention the league was watered down by s.hitty expansion teams. I mean what teams did Jordan beat in the Finals can you say were most definitely better than the 12 Thunder, 13 Spurs, or 16 Warriors? I would say none of them. Lakers were old and injured. Portland was notorious for melting down in big games, Suns had no center and s.hit depth. 96 Sonics were the current Clippers of their day. 97/98 Jazz had no bench at all, and Stockton was past-prime. What LeBron did is just way more impressive.

What's better?

A. Making the playoffs with a losing record (Jordan)
B. Missing the playoffs with a winning record (LeBron)

You consider Orlando Woolridge a scrub?

poor kid embarrassing himself by talking about something he clearly knows nothing about. Only saw MJ play in a Wizards jersey.

good point, it's better to make the playoffs than to miss it. MJ was better than Lebron his 1st 2 real years in the league, that's pretty undeniable (85 vs 04 is easily MJ same for 87 vs 05. 85 vs 05 are close however slight edge MJ). However I take woolridge or oakley over zydrunas.

1. I agree, it is better to make lose in the the Finals than Round 3, 2, or 1. And it is better to lose in Round 1 than not make the playoffs at all.

2. If you would like to continue this conversation though, Lebron still wins...because MJ didn't make the playoffs either at age 19. He wasn't even in the league.

Wait, who's OP talking about?

Bankaii

Lebron 1st 2 seasons: 77-87: misses playoffs
Jordan 1st 2 seasons: 68-96: makes playoffs

MJ played in a weak as era, that's the only reason he made the playoffs.
OP yet again looking like a dumbass.

It is funny LeBron won 35 and 42 games fresh out of high school and MJ fans are using that against him. Jordan came out of UNC--the best program of his era--and didn't have a winning season until his fourth year. (Keep in mind LeBron joined a 17 win team; MJ joined a 27 win team.)

LeBron's teams have been no worse than 0.600 in games he played from his third year to today. In contrast MJ had five losing seasons to bookend his career.

He had a losing season in '02 due to injuries.
