Williams is a free agent. Should the Bulls go after him for one season?

The roster really wouldn't be that much worse than the roster they had last season:

C: Lopez/Felicio
PF: Mirotic/Portis
SF: Doug McDermott/Snell
SG: Butler/Jerian Grant
PG: Deron Williams/Calderon/draft pick

I think that's an 8th seed team in the pathetic east

Also they still have Taj Gibson to use in a trade and they can try and do a sign and trade involving Noah and/or Gasol and get something in return for one or both of them. So the Bulls have a lot of options right now to make this an interesting team next season

Well Deron is as washed up as Rose, if not worse.

The Bulls have options now at the point guard position now that they traded Rose. They can play Jose Calderon, Jerian Grant, if they draft a point guard tonight in the draft they can play him. I say they look into Deron Williams. Like I said make it a one season deal and if Williams doesn't really fit after starting at the beginning of the season then bench him and start Calderon

No, no point striving for an 8th seed

If we gotta tank, do it properly. You're either competing or tanking

Nothing worse then being stuck in the middle

Why will you go with Deron when the bulls can offer something for Conley.

you love being mediocre, don't you.

Why? They're clearly gonna rebuild now.

A Deron signing truly is the ultimate treadmill move in a lot of cases, especially with Chicago. I would never do it. The guy is truly one of the biggest head-case losers ever to reach superstardom in recent memory. He really had a case for top PG for a stretch over Chris Paul and Nash (though highly debatable) and was a fringe top 10 player when he came to NJ.

At his peak, I never would have thought he would be so miserably exposed and likely be out of the league by 35. I think the common criticism of him as a "system player" created by Sloan may actually be understating the reality of this guy's shortcomings. His Nets tenure was so dreadful and he let every little thing get in his head, coming off as borderline depressed 70% of the time in Brooklyn. I know he had half a resurgence in Dallas which I'm sure wasn't hard considering he had like 2 meaningful moments with the Nets.

His losing mindset was one of the most infectiously disastrous things I've ever seen. Think about how screwed a guy like Brook Lopez was from the jump: playing alongside Devin Harris, Deron Williams, Joe Johnson etc. Those were the LEADERS of his teams. He never had a chance to develop a thirst for winning and has just decided that it's okay to not be great. It's okay to lose. It's okay to get tea-bagged by a hobbled Noah on half a knee with no Rose, no Hinrich, no Deng, with a fully healthy roster on your home court as a heavy favorite in a Game 7. Deron cultivated so much of that losing mindset that still hinders the team to this day; I've never seen anything quite like it.

So no. The Bulls shouldn't sign Deron Williams. In basketball terms, the guy is a joke.

Good. That way Mavs could offer Lin a contract.
