It's an interesting point. A lot of the same people who still try to consider Curry > LeBron would be more incensed if Durant went to the Cavs than the Warriors. Ultimately LeBron would take more heat than Kevin I think since he'd be viewed as a "repeat colluder" but I do think people would come down even harder on Durant for this.
