View Full Version : If Durant signs with dubs was losing in the finals a blessing in disguise?

There was a 0% chance that he would sign with the dubs if they won the title. However, now he can justify signing there. Marc Stein reported that the dubs have a meeting set up with him. Bob Myers, Jerry West, Steve Kerr, Curry, Klay, and Draygod will be at the meeting. Sacrificing one title might be worth it if it yields 5-6 titles.

"The Warriors and Spurs, sources say, are both already planning to load a plane full of key organizational figures -- including Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson for Golden State, and Gregg Popovich and Tim Duncan for San Antonio -- to fly to an undisclosed location once free-agency season starts to try to lure Durant away from the only franchise he has ever played for."

"But the Warriors, sources say, increasingly believe their chances of convincing Durant to leave the Thunder after a successful 10-season run were enhanced significantly by the fact that Golden State lost the NBA Finals to Cleveland in seven games despite taking a 3-1 series lead."

"The Thunder remain the frontrunners to re-sign Durant, likely on a one-plus-one-year deal that will allow Durant to return to free agency in the summer of 2017, league sources said. But more than any other rival suitor, the Warriors have Durant's attention, league sources said."

It would definitely help ZVC to have a teammate who could save him in the finals while he is busy shivering in the corner too terrified to touch the ball.

Curry is one the most humble and highest character guys in NBA history. He is simply a superior human being compared to d bags like Bran, Kobe, and Jordan. You sociopaths need to stop hating on Curry.

Durant would probably win FMVP and you would probably change your username to Durant, Dray n Klay.

Maybe for the Warriors.
For Lebron, this MADE his legacy and locked him in at top 2-3 all time.
Leading both teams in EVERY single category and becoming the 1st man in history to bring his team back from a 3-1 finals deficit while playing 2 of the last 3 games on the road and averaging a 36 point triple double to bring them back is something lebron wouldn't have traded for the world:lol

Win for everyone. Bron got his GOAT argument and now nothing he does or doesn't do really matters. It's all bonus points. If he wants to, he might as well retire tomorrow and he'll be remembered as a top 2 GOAT :lebronamazed:

Yeah baiting Draygod into a suspension was one of the GOAT moves in Finals history. That play will be the signature play in Bran's career since it turned the series around.

Durant likes doing what he does best......shoot the ball. By playing for GS, his FGA will be cut in half and he'll become just another ordinary player. No chance whatsoever that he signs with GS. Even with Drayfag threatening to kick him in the nuts if he doesn't sign.... isn't going to be enough.

When it's all said and done, bran will be remembered for being the only man in history to bring his team back from a 3-1 finals deficit and this against a 73 win team:lol
2nd GOAT confirmed :applause:

KD is taking 19 FGA... why would that be cut? Thats 2 more than Thompson.. that just means it will drop by 1, maybe 2, to spread like 17 among Curry/KD/Thompson, who will get like 15... thats not really a worry. There are enough shots available.

Green quits getting shots all together? His 10 per game just disappears?

If KD wants to become known as just another run-of-the-mill player with less notoriety while getting less MPG...he'll sign with GS. If wants to remain in the spotlight as the captain of OKC with a better team this coming year....then he'll re-sign.

No chance there's going to "splash triplets" at GS

Why do you think finding 60 shots between those 4 will be an issue? Thats like how many Bron/Wade/Bosh took in '11.

Whats a run of the mill player, if you think 16-17 FGA KD is a run off the mill player? Wtf

Hey Yo

Run of the mill meaning lost in the mix. He'll get less notoriety and practically become.... just another player.

James, Wade and Bosh are/were effective in other aspects than just scoring. They didn't rely on their shots first.....they could be asked to do other things while others score at that time etc...

I'm not sure it really changes. It's possible that Lacob and the Warriors front office got more "aggressive" from the disappointment of choking that series, but Barnes was going to look for that max contract anyway. Durant was still going to look at different teams to sign with.

The talk of Durant going to the Warriors isn't new, it was reported months ago and the Warriors have long wanted KD.

Durant obviously doesn't care that much about how he looks, going to a 73-9 team that he just lost to in the postseason (blowing a 3-1 series lead). He's already getting wide criticism. What difference would it really make if the Warriors had won one more game and closed it out?

Teams want to stay ahead of the curve and maintain their stay at the top. If it was an opportunity to get Durant for "only" 6 million more yearly than paying Harrison Barnes, I'm sure nothing would change even if they won the title

With how badly they got embarrassed, nothing good could come from it.

Everyone respected them less after that series.

Now everyone respects them even less.
