The Spurs plan this offseason should be to get rid of Boris Diaw and keep David West and sign Pau Gasol. Gasol would fit in very well with the Spurs. Just think of West/Duncan/Gasol/Aldridge playing together at center and power forward. That would be sick.

Diaw is 10x more important to the Spurs than West. I would love to have West but I'd be happy to see him go if it meant keeping Diaw.

Getting Gasol would be more of a Duncan replacement than anything. (Whether Duncan retires or not is beside that point. Duncan even if he doesn't retire will be more of a token player a la Robert Parish with Charlotte/Chicago than a regular contributor...)

Spurs aren't re-signing David West. He signed to try and get a ring. Left a lot of money on the table. He will have a bigger payday for someone else.

It would have made more sense to have LMA with Diaw/West and Duncan with the other. Maybe it's because LMA doesn't want to play center? I disagree with Diaw being over the hill - his skills are not based on the physical/athletic and will age gracefully. I don't blame West for wanting to leave - he gave up a lot to go there - I wouldn't have.
