So John Stockton shorts are coming back in??

So i was shopping for summer shorts yesterday and i noticed all the stores mostly carried short ass shorts. i think this trend actually started a a few years back with the kids, maybe even earlier, but i'm old school. fab 5 era was my era, so that john stockton high and tight shit ain't making me excited. is this like the skinny jeans movement? i don't care if trendy hip kids want to wear those but where can i find men's shorts for casual wear that don't look like daisy dukes?

yeah, i noticed they came back for a while, but there was still always a section for longer shorts during that time. but just like yesterday, i noticed that the stores only put out the short-ass shorts. i'm way overgrown to follow the latest hip trends or whatever but i don't even care about the fashion as much as the general comfort issue of longer and baggier shorts vs. high and tight ass shorts. these things always come and go. every generation has their own thing.

I don't care how in or out of style it is, I wear my basketball shorts just below the kneecap and "fancier" shorts right above the knee cap. Exposed leg looks so terrible on dudes whether you're in shape or not. I feel that way in general though, don't wear tank tops either for the same reason

Even my basketball shorts, I don't want them super long. I know it looks nicer to have them past my knees, but they get in the way of movement. More movement = more comfort.

However, I don't wear anything too short. The shortest non bball shorts I have are about 2-3 inches above my knee and I don't find those comfortable, especially if I have my wallet and phone and keys with me. Plus I have hairy legs, I ain't about to shave them. (Can't deny that I haven't thought about it :oldlol: )

I ordered a bunch of basketball shorts a few months ago from a few spots online, and was a little surprised how all over the place they were in length. It's been a while since I've worn shorts that short, but I've actually found them quite comfortable. Jordan Brand at least lists the inseams on their stuff, and I've noticed they'll have a bunch of listings that look really similar, only to find out one of them has a shorter inseam.

Typically it appears I wear a 9" inseam, but 7" seems way more standard than it used to be. And I've even seen some 5" inseams around.

well, short shorts do seem to be the "hip" thing right now, but i don't care about it because summer clothing should be about battling the heat and having ventilation. like someone said, if you put your wallet, phone, keys, and maybe a camera into your pockets, you should have a crystal clear reminder on just how uncomfortable they are everytime you sit down or get in your car. as for the fashion part, people got it all wrong because i'm really just way ahead of the time when longer comfy shorts make a big comeback in 2026. :oldlol:

the short shorts out there right now -- they are already tight enough when the pockets are empty. insert your wallet and whatever gadgets, and they just feel unbearable.

it's the same thing with skinny jeans, which have been around for way longer than it should have. i'm not asking for outrageously baggy jeans, but enough with the extremities. just gimme more options to buy clothes that fit properly in stores.

Haha. Well devil's advocate, they could have a better cut of shorts and not be spreading their legs. Generally it's not a good look if you wear shorts that get shorter/tighter when you sit down cuz they are all up on your crotch.
