View Full Version : Warriors' Players: Hey, you can help take the pressure off Steph Curry. We need you."

The Golden State Warriors' front office has long been planning to pursue Kevin Durant and several of their players reached out to him throughout the season.

"Here's the thing that's interesting about Golden State: their players have been recruiting Kevin Durant all year," said Wojnarowski. "It goes back to earlier in the season when the Thunder were struggling. I don't know that Golden State saw them as a peer or as a threat. They weren't playing great. They were in that mid-range in the west.

"Kevin Durant was hearing from guys on the Warriors about 'hey, you can help take the pressure off Steph Curry. We need you.'

"This was when they were running off win after win after win. They had him on their mind. It appealed to him.

"It's text messages, it's a lot of that. But the communication with some of the players of Golden State and Kevin, that's not just starting now."

ADRIAN WOJNAROWSKI/THE VERTICAL

The **** is this shit? If I haven't lost respect for this team already. This is some bitch made shit. **** this team and organization. **** KD if he goes to Golden State.

What pressure?

His team was a minute away from winning the championship with him having the worst Finals of an MVP in recent history.
His team was in the process of making it to the WCF without him even having to play.

The fact that a 73-9 team is begging for Durant shows how bitchmade that team is.

kind of strange and hypocritical that players cannot be charged with tampering like a team can. They are under contract with and representing a rival basketball organization, it's not like they're free agents. They represent the warriors organization on and off the court as long as they are under contract.

The 1st and 2nd in PER are teaming up...

Remember what LeBron did?

Why don't they just ask Lebron to join them as well? He's a free agent too.

Given LeBron's track record of teaming up with 2 other top 5 PER leaders...I would not put it past him to try to join GS.

LeBron wasn't joining a team that had the best record of all time the season before, and just had 2 straight finals appearances/1 championship

It's not Curry's fault that he lead the Warriors to such a good record

LeBron left because he couldn't do what Curry did

So joined up with the 2nd and 4th highest PER leaders in the league

That would be like Curry recruiting Kevin Durant AND Russell Westbrook

Actually, it is his fault. You shouldn't have the best record of all time and then feel like you NEED another player. Not even a close comparison.

LeBron joined a team that was a first round exit the year before, not joining a team that had GOAT season and great chemistry. It was a new rebuild essentially. Curry is so beta that his 73 win team isn't enough for him to beat healthy Cavs

Says who? They didn't win the championship. They won 73 games and burnt themselves out and then players like Barnes, Livingston, Ezeli all went ghost. It was obvious the 73 win was an over achievement, mainly built on the MVP performance of Steph Curry.

LeBron joined a team with Dwayne Wade and recruited Chris Bosh to come and they took paycuts to make it work.

That would be like if Curry joined a team with Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook, and they took less than max....

It would be weird seeing him join a team that just eliminated him from contention, partly because Durant himself choked, but after watching Bron join the superteams he has? And seeing just how fragile winning a championship can be?

I wouldn't even bat an eye.

If you cant beat em, join em mentality is what the NBA has become. :confusedshrug:

But, according to you, wouldn't have GS easily won if Curry was 'healthy' in the finals? Why do they need another top 3 player if they are already the best team that would have won if healthy (and no suspension)?

And the 4th best player on the team that first year? It was James Jones.

4th best player on GSW would be Klay. An ALL NBA player would be the 4th option. Plus Iggy. Plus Livingston. Plus Ezeli (if they want him).

GTFO. How you have avoided my ignore this long is a mystery.

You have to plan for the worst, if Warriors suffer injuries again and don't have Durant, bad things can happen. As a General Manager you have to prepare for the worst and always be looking to add more talent, because all of your competitors are always doing the same.

That actually is the main reason for this potential move. Tim Kawakami (warriors beat writer) said the Warriors would limit Curry to 70 regular season games if Durant signs. Getting Durant would prolong Curry's career.

Curry just turned 28.

He avg. less than 35mpg and sits out 20+ fourth quarters during the season. He 's not a slasher....he's a shooter

How the hell is he tired? He should be well rested for the postseason.

LOL @ Steph... "Hey KD, we're 24-0 and really need your help next season...you gonna sign wit us,brah"

3wks later

"we're 40-4, brah.....please sign with us next season, I need help!!!"

Doesn't really matter. Shit gets said during competition, especially in the playoffs. It's water under the bridge once it comes to trying to win championships.

Durant would be ridiculed. The word "beta" will be used approximately 9,000 times on this board within 24 hours.
