So, me and a couple of friends are going to Croatia for 10 days from the end of September into October. Going to Zagreb (1 night), Zadar (1 night), Split (2 night), Hvar (3 night), and Dubrovnik (2 night). Should we not go to any of those places and spend more time at other places?
Also, we'll be driving from Zagreb-Zadar-Split. How's the drive? Finally, what's the best way to get from Hvar to Dubrovnik?

That's not a very convincing argument. I guess I won't go.

Best country I've ever been to. Since you're driving you 100% have to go to the plitvice lakes national park. Just do it and thank me in October.

Yeah, that's on the itinerary. Driving from Zagreb to Plitvice and then onto Zadar.
How's Zadar, BTW?

Nice route. Too bad Pula is a bit out of hand for it. Defo go to Plitvice tho.
Avoid the islands. I remember Krk being overcrowded as fvck, even moreso than the mainland hotspots.

Sounds like somebody who's never left your hometown. Croatia is beautiful.

Was so beautiful.. goddamn that blue water. Swam between the fish!
There's not a huge difference in look and feel between those coastal towns like Split and Zadar. I'd say skip one for efficiency unless you think the drive is too long then.
And I see it's already your plan, but skipping past Istria is a good idea.

Like others have said, skip Zadar and stay some more in Hvar (there are many nice beaches to visit in different parts of the island - or you can even make day trips to other islands around).
From Hvar to Dubrovnik, imo the best way is just go back to Split by ferry and then use the car to Dubrovnik. I assume you'll rent a car for the whole trip.

Day 1 - Zagreb
Day 2 - Drive from Zagreb to Plitvice and head onto Zadar
Day 3 - Drive from Zadar to Split
Day 4 - Split
Day 5 - Catch a seaplane from Split to Hvar
Day 6 - Hvar
Day 7 - Hvar
Day 8 - Catch a ferry from Hvar to Dubrovnik
Day 9 - Dubrovnik
Day 10 - Flying back to Zagreb
You guys think that I should just not do Zadar and add one day to Dubrovnik?

Yes, either to Dubrovnik or to Hvar.
EDIT - This is not because Zadar is not worthwile, but because the plan is already quite tight. If you don't mind cramming many stops into your trip, then stop in Zadar too.
So you're leaving the car in Split?
Maybe it's better to take it with you to Hvar because it'll be useful to move around the isle and explore the many beaches (the isle is big).
The downside of taking the car on the ferries is that you are not assured to get in even if you have the ticket, because of the long waiting queues. In peak season, you'll need to show up hours before otherwise the ferry will fill up and you'll need to take the next one (and departures are hours apart).
So if you don't care about exploring the island and just plan to stay in the old city (plenty of night life there) you better do without the car.
Jasi is pretty much on point, have fun AJ.

Only going to Zadar because it's pretty much on the way from Zagreb to Split.
Leaving the car in Split. We want to take the seaplane from Split to Hvar and a catamaran from Hvar to Dubrovnik. You think driving is a better option?
Also, what about public transportation and taxis in Hvar?
Jasi is pretty much on point, have fun AJ.
Thanks, man. You're from Croatia, right?

No no, if you don't want to move around in Hvar then your plan's perfect.
Public transportation within the island is lacking though. Taxis I don't know honestly

As far as i know Zagreb-Zadar-Split is all highway and the highways in Croatia are all new and very high quality. Also i feel you should take your car with you instead of leaving it in Split, since you will be going in September it is unlikely that there will be long waiting times for the catamaran also in my experience the public transportation is usually crap all over the country.

I would also vote in favor of eliminating zadar to stay longer elsewhere, never been to Zadar, but I think having less travel time is better to enjoy the beaches. Beautiful women by the way, but I was told by my host and had the personal experience of them being difficult to approach.

Croatian girls originating from the sea regions are one of the most beautifull girls in Europe........I study in Croatia in one of the towns on the continent and when I drive home I always stop in Mcdonalds in Rijeka(town by the sea) and I see more beautifull girls in half an hour in a freaking MCdonalds than I do in a whole week in a town in central Croatia.
Why would anybody choose to go there?
such an ignorant and stupid question. croatia is a beautiful country. do you even have a passport?

Croatia is an amazing place I've been a few times:cheers:
If you had the time I highly recommend doing sail Croatia, it's 7 days on a boat cruising all the islands, different one each night, non stop party:banana:
I've also hired a car and drove around, you definitely have to go plitvic but make sure you get there as soon as it opens, around 8am I think, because by 10 there will be a million Asian tourists in buses brutal..
Split is awesome, same with tragyre?, Dubrovnik is ok but depends on your tolerance for overly touristy areas..

Spent a little over a week on makarska Riviera last year, and we rented a boat and went for a day to hvar.
It was one of the best coastlines I ever witnessed with no sand on the beaches, just how I like it. Furthermore, the nightlife is a little better in hvar but makarska nightlife was also great.
Next time I go though it'll be with a lady friend and not guy friends because it's more suitable place to just lay on the beach and chill. But amazing nonetheless. I loved it. Will return.

Lmao, is this a serious post? Croatia is perfect for a nice little get away...beautiful country and perfect place for summer 16.
Looks amazing. My coworker sat me down and showed me the live events, girls and parties. I instantly want to go here more than anywhere else

I was going to recommend to switch Zadar with Pag, but considering you were originally planing on only spending 2 half-days at Zadar, I'd go with Jasi's advice.

After Moscow, I'm in Zagreb right now. Done partying for the day. I'm staying on Amurševa. Going to Plitvice in a couple of hours (driving) and Zadar after that.
Can you guys suggest things to do in Zadar?

I didn't read the part in the op where you said you'd be there in October...why? :lol
I'm sure you'll still have a good time. Ask locals where the "diskoteka" is at, they'll help you out.

Well, it's October man... not exactly high season... Hvar (the city) is very lively in June-August. Today, who knows, ask someone there...
What you can surely do is explore the island, there are some very nice beaches around:
Dubovica is the finest I saw.

Sit in the outdoor courtyards, drink coffee and talk to local girls who will swoon at your sexy foreign american accent.
Try using a little bit of croatian.

Trip's done. Found a couple of local bars in Hvar. People in Croatia overall were really friendly. I would give the trip a solid 9/10. Will definitely hit up Hvar again sometime in the future.
Next stop NY.
