Dude cost himself $60M by signing early

$90M over 5 years is a STEAL for Kawhi

Seriously what the **** was his agent thinking?

Because Kawhi doesn't give a f*ck about that difference, 90 mil for Kawhi is more than he'll ever need. Signing a 1 year just to make more money probably never once crossed his mind. He cares about winning and his team is going to do a lot of it with his contract.

So he wants to stack the deck by taking peanuts?

For 90 millions most people could live 20 lifetimes luxuriously and not worrying about a thing.
And this isn't his last contract.

That was also his expression in last year's NBA Playoffs. Dude was so disappointing against the Thunder.

Then why doesn't he sign for the minimum?

ya gotta love the entitlement.. he's getting 90 million dollars to put a ball in a hole. He'll likely get another deal after this one and top 200+ mil for his career.. oh but he could've had 300 mil.. what is the difference? he has enough money for 10 lifetimes.

I don't think he's going to win another NBA Finals MVP, or even a Championship. Kyrie Irving put up much better numbers than the 2014 and 2015 Finals MVP. Even Pau Gasol put up numbers than Kawhi and Iggy.

After taxes and agent fees, it's $45M over 5 years compared to $75M if he waited a year.

Assume a 6% return on capital if he invests the money, that's $2.7M vs $4.5M return a year

That is a LOT, the difference between living comfortable and living rich. Better house, better car, private jets, 5 star cruises. etc.

It's a BIG difference if you understand finance

If someone spends 2.7mm a year something is wrong. I'm not familiar with the NBA, but I would imagine a lot of the during-the-season expenses are covered by the team. (not sure)

Second of all, anyone can understand finance; it's easy as ****

uh.. he'll still be able to do all that. And he doesnt seem like the extravagant type to get satisfaction out of all the superficial stuff.. so it doesnt even matter

but yea.. he'll just be livin comfortable on 100 mil lmao.. true.

You guys understand that team contracts are not his only source of money, right? He has more money than any normal person could reasonably want, let alone someone as weirdly minimalistic as him. The guy drives his '97 Tahoe from fking high school for god's sake :oldlol:

And he would've been one injury away from not getting a guaranteed contract.
