What utter mismanagement by Kupchak and the Lakers not signing Bazemore and Ed Davis to long term contracts because they weren't considered good enough to be part of the "core", then goes out and spends $34m per on 2 role players. Inexcusable given

1. Everyone knew the cap was going up, even they weren't part of your long terms plans they'd be valuable trade chips once the cap exploded. To rub salt into the wound, Nick Young got rewarded with a multi year contract.

2. These guys were clearly talented and anyone who watched them can see they belonged in the NBA, even on those joke rosters. No one would blame the Lakers for not bringing back Boozer or Lin since they were rubbish.

How long is Kupchak going to live off the fact he inherited Kobe in his prime and pulled off one lucky Gasol trade. He wasted most of Kobe's prime by surrounding him with rubbish, then ****ed up the transition by letting every valuable asset walk for nothing.

If the Lakers didn't get lucky (not getting into conspiracy theories) in the last 2 draft lotteries they'd have a bleaker future than the Nets.

Since you're into the "if" game. "If" David Stern hadn't vetoed the Kupchak orchestrated Chris Paul trade, despite allowing Chris Bosh to collude with Lebron and Wade, Kupchak might have another chip under his belt.
