He'll be getting paid as much as Jeremy Lin, but his contact is bigger. for 5 years compared to Lin's 3 years.

Miami will match. Tyler is a damn good rotation caliber guard.

And if Durant signs with Miami, he'll be the starting point guard with Dragic being traded to create space.

The kid is a stud. Is it official?

I would rather have him start than Dragic. Not even kidding either.

After giving Dragic a full season, and seeing his inconsistencies dip into the playoffs as well, I'm with you.

Tyler is an athletic two-way combo guard, who can hit 3's at a 38 percent clip and is very pesky defensively.

Gotta match it

Yep. Given the way we play, Tyler offers more.

I'm sick of seeing Dragic try to do anything in the half court. Tyler is so much more dynamic and multi faceted. He isn't a superstar or anything, but he has that innate ability to make plays happen when nothing is going. Much like a Nate Robinson or Jamal Crawford.

Damm not a bad move by the Nets they need to sign some young player since they don't have their 1st round pick next year.

But that's alot of money for a combo guard that hasn't done much in the NBA but then again when Courtney Lee, Affalo, Lin, Delly have received similar contract then why not. Johnson isn't necessarily better than any of the above players but he has a higher ceiling.

Would have preferred Allen Crabbe, but I guess this will do. Guy's game reminds me of Delonte West..

Love this move for us, hopefully they don't match. Every time I see this guy play good things happen. Exciting player to watch too.

I love TJ. These contracts are ridiculous! What a time for basketball players to be alive. It'll be sad to see him go. He plays with heart. By the way, TJ can not play the point. Richardson was much better at point.

He's not even worth $5 million.

There are dozens of better players in places like D-League, FIBA Americas, China, and some of the worst European leagues.

Bump that up to hundreds upon hundreds if you count the good European leagues.

He's overpaid like 90% of free agents this year. No surprise.

These contracts are retarded...They are going to get even worse next season.

Seriously who is Tyler Johnson and why is he getting paid like this?

That person is an idiot. He is a good player. Overpriced? Sure. So is everyone now.

He is at least as good as Dragic for those wondering, like PJR and myself mentioned. Put up 8/2/3 last season on limited minutes and great shooting. 24 year old, who is athletic and plays both sides of the ball.

We get it, he's in the league and is decent at ball.

I fear the future of a league where a no name guy like this is getting paid 50 million :(

Waste of money. It's actually worse than the Conley signing cause I don't remember him coming off the bench much:oldlol:  :facepalm

Lots of different opinions here. But I've heard he can definitely play both sides of the ball which is great. I like it. Money is nothing for the first two seasons. By the time he fully develops he will be paid more

He absolutely can. I think it's a really good signing, watched TJ quite a bit last season.

Good. I think FA signing starts either today or tomorrow (officially) Wade better keep talking with teams so Miami doesn't match lol.

It's looking like they're going to match. Kind of disappointing but he's not a sure thing. I feel like this was a missed opportunity anyway though.

Miami has indeed matched the contract.
