CP3 was vetoed because the Lakers would've gotten CP3 and saved money. It's kind of ridiculous you get a player of his caliber and you benefit with his talent and you SAVE money. It pissed a lot of owners off and they voted to veto it.

The CP3 trade was very one sided in the Lakers favor like most of their trades. Free agency has complete freedom though. I'm not disagreeing with you though.

How the hell do the Lakers continuously get away with these trades?

Because the league technically OWNED the Hornets during that time. This is an FA signing, and the league doesn't own OKC.

The league owned the Hornets. They dont own the Warriors or OKC

The Hornets were owned by the league, so they have every right to veto a trade. The Warriors have private owners, the league can do nothing.

I don't understand why people STILL don't get this.

At the time the team was without an owner, instead ran by the NBA and owned a little bit by all other teams. That's the only reason the veto set in motion by Cuban and others was possible to begin with.

The NBA owned the Hornets at the time, and thus had to pay for the salaries on that team. The CP3 trade would've made them take on more salary, instead of shedding salary, and the 28 other owners did not want to pay more money for the team, so that 1 team can benefit.

How did Demps not lose his job after that episode? One of the worst trades of all-time.
