Both Allen and Garnett were in their 30's, they were both traded and they weren't joining a team that had just won 73 games and had been to back to back finals.

If you're going where I think you are, not the same thing.
-Garnett and Allen were at tail ends of their prime and pretty much done all they were going to do for their individual legacies
- None of these guys on their respective teams were close to the title, nor were they playoff rivals who just decided to team-up to remove their main competitor from the equation.
You know what would be the equal of this? Tim Duncan going to the Lakers in 2003 after getting bounced by them in 2001 and 2002. That's the equal of what Durant has done here.

Nets formed the failed super team in 2013 so Pierce going there was for more rings even though it fell flat.
He joined the Clips for a possible ring.
Wizards is a exception but in a weak eastern conference anything was possible.

He got traded to Brooklyn. He didn't just up and leave Boston for a team of old men that had zero realistic shot at winning anything.
He picked the Wizards (not a contending team) and the Clips (probably for ring-chasing reasons but the Clips never win anything).

It's like some of you have no knowledge of even recent NBA history. Pierce didn't choose to leave the Celtics, he was traded. When he did hit free agency he first chose Washington because he wanted an important role on what he hoped would be a good team. But can any of you critics remember the last time a guy went to the Wizards to ring chase? I doubt it because you can't even remember that Pierce was traded from the Celtics. He did join the Clippers hoping to win and knowing he would have a lesser role but you should understand that he had a relationship with Doc Rivers and he would have to be as dumb as the people currently disrespecting him to think he could play the 20+ppg go-to guy role he did in his prime. How many swingmen still carry good teams at age 37? If he went out there and averaged 15 points on 17 shots for the Sixers you'd still be talking crap about him, just with a different set of attacks. Bottom line, players get old. So does stupid trolling. Shut up.

For joining The Nets? Who beat the Celtics in the playoffs 12 years earlier? LOL, how is that even close to joining the team that knocked you out 40 days ago?

He never joined Miami though. So, yes, he could have joined all the other 28 teams in the league besides Miami to chase a ring, and it still would not equate to what Durant just did.
And yes, Ray Allen did that. And Pierce disowned him after it happened.

Well honestly Celtics were the first team to initiate the superteam era, if it were not for them Lebron wouldnt have formed his superteam in Miami, and the trend wouldnt've continued with Durant either.

And now we have someone that thinks the Celtics are the first franchise to try and create a great basketball team. What's next, LeBron invented free agency?

I am not saying theres anything wrong for players to form superteams. Some fans like it, some dont. I was just saying that, Paul Pierce shouldnt be the one to laugh at Kevin Durant, since Celtics were the pioneers of the superteam era.

And there you go again. The Celtics drafted Pierce. traded for Allen, traded for KG. Do you understand the difference between free agency and trading? Between free agency and drafting? Probably not. Oh well.

Bull.
KG initially blocked his trade to Boston until Ray Allen was acquired.
KG had a change of heart after the opportunity to team up with Allen & Pierce.
KG could have blocked any trade he wished & he did ( before Allen was on board).

Yeah ,but stop pretending KG was completely helpless & had no choice in the matter.
KG blocked the trade by saying he would not sign long term with the Celtics if they traded for him .
Celtics trade their top 5 lottery pick for Allen to apease Garnett & he then decides to join.
His no trade clause or ability to block that trade was just as potent as being a free agent.
KG cherry picked the Celtics after Allen was picked up.

Even if this is REMOTELY a similar decision (Minnesota also had to agree to the package, for a start - and if they could draft they'd have got Steph Curry from it...), it was going to the 2nd worst team in the league the season before, NOT the team who just broke the single season win record, have the reigning MVP and were an idiotic suspension away from winning their second straight title.

I understand of course, but through Trade or FA, the Celtics were the first superteam formed in this century, and this had a disruptive impact on the mindset of NBA players. By superteams, I mean big three joining force in their prime, Lakers in 2004/2013 dont count since 2 of their 4 stars are old and washed up.
Because of the Celtics superteam in 2008, Lebron decided to go to Miami Heat in 2010, and then we are in an era of collusion. I am not saying the Celtics did anything wrong, in fact its totally subjective whether this superteam era is good or bad. Just saying that, the Celtics and Paul Pierce are on the same boat as Warriors and Durant, so Pierce shouldnt be the one criticizing KD for this move.
I figured that even though Paul Pierce won his championship as the result of the exact same type of weak shit, he's still allowed to poke fun at the situation.
Then I checked his twitter and found out that Pierce actually thinks that time MVP-winner conference-finalist and perennial playoff underperformer KG joined a team of stars to chase a ring is not the same thing.
Lol. Hypocrite indeed.

I'm responding DIRECTLY to the guy that says "KG did not go willingly" to Boston( if you notice the quote) Which is Bull.
KG wanted no parts of Boston until the Celtics traded away their lottery pick for a perennial All star in Ray Allen. The notion of a Big 3 appealed to him/ changed his mind.
KG either had a no trade clause or could refuse to sign an extension & block any trade he chose to.
A no trade Clause essentially gives a player the opportunity to cherry pick his destinations.

The only point I made was that the Celtics players( KG especially who blocked the Celtics trade initially) was all in after the Allen trade then talking to Pierce / Allen about a potential Big 3.
If Jordan , Barkley & Olajuwon had somehow joined the expansion Hormet or Heat in 1988 because they could not beat Celtics/ Lakers / Pistons it would not matter . They ran from a challege & joined forces no matter how bad the franchise was .
I agree that what Durant did was the absolute worst . It would be like Cam Newton going to the Denver Broncos in the off season .
I did not say they were the same . I'd rather hear from someone other than the Celtics Big 3 though.
No one is saying that the Celtics Big 3 is exactly the same as Durant.

So if Jordan ,Barkley & Olajuwon had somehow managed to go the 1988 expansion Hornet's or Heat that makes it better? You get those 3 & they are a 60 win team & no longer expansion/ worst.
