Either that, or Duncan has already made his decision clear to Spurs management and they went all out to get Pau.

I'm hoping it's the former.

If Manu will come back, then for all means we need Timmy. There's something about their core/trio that won't look ok without one of the parts.

IGOTGAME

Spurs really need some pop at point guard though. If they can somehow get that then they will have a shot.

Best chance they've had yet IMO, and with a bench addition they could be even better.

Spurs be like **** this small ball shit we playing big and old.

Not sure what to think about this move, I mean I don't know who else the Spurs could of signed but with Aldridge and TD I think Gasol is a bit redundant.

Yeah, the familiarity makes a massive difference. Even if Duncan's minutes are even more limited.

They could challenge the Warriors MAYBE... but again, even with Westbrook, Russ/Kawhi/LMA falls short in talent by alot.

Russ doesnt suit them all that much. They need a great TP. And Pop at his best.

Why? No. I'd rather overpay for Dragic or something.

Why? No. I'd rather overpay for Dragic or something.

He is only making 14 million this year. With him you get possible the best point guard defender in the league and possibly the best passes. He would also add tempo and give you another way to score with his pick and roll ability. On top of all that he is a top tier leader and winner.

I think he would be more helpful than Dragic and cheaper.

The signing that should have happened two yrs ago. Glad to see Pau get another shot at a ring.

Rubio can't shoot.

He shoots well enough where I'd trust him in a playoff series to make enough shots or plays to win. I've watched him play enough to see he gets it done.

He gets up for big games and he produces. They need someone like that at point guard and Mills and Parker aren't it right now. 14 million for Rubio is a bargain

For the Spurs to complete the Gasol signing, they're working on a trade to move Boris Diaw, league sources tell @TheVertical.

No this indicates that he's retiring. Pau is the vet replacement.

He has shot below 40% every single year of his career. :oldlol: That's not well enough.

The very last role player they should be trading. Watch him find his way to GS or Cleveland. FFS.

And he has been a positive for every year he has been in the league. He has also always stepped up in big games against other top point guards and teams.

never been someone to just look at regular season averages tho.

I guarantee that whatever team gets Rubio gets better.

They're better with Gasol than without him. May as well go for it. Boris has contributed a lot but he's not Gasol.

Rubio is not a starter, sorry. He should be coming off the bench a la Shaun Livingston.

I guarantee that whatever team gets Rubio gets better.I'm inclined to agree here, since Parker isn't that great of a three pointer shooter himself. Ricky can't slash as well as him but he's a better passer.

He is the best defensive point guard in the league and comes close to leading the league in assists every year. He is a starter.

And he was usually a crucial piece to have against teams that the Spurs struggle the most against.

I'm not great with understanding the salary implications and stuff, but couldn't they net Gasol without giving away someone like Diaw or Mills? What about West, Martin, K. Anderson?

Spurs are a better team than the Bulls. I understand the move.

Problem is he's a great passer that would be on a team already great at moving the ball, and he can't shoot well enough consistently to have him taking shots.
