Williams sucks though, the rest of the lineup is decent.

I like it and really do think Barnes will be a nice surprise. I can see him averaging 16-17ppg but obviously he doesn't take them to the next level or anything...but they WILL be significantly better. They overachieved last year for what they were.

1) bogut/mejri both 20min a game

2) matthews and williams shooting above 42% from the field and above 35% from three

3) dirk somehow maintaining his last year skill. i hope without those "off" periods

4) trusting justin anderson

and then we might compete for the 8th and first round exit

would be epic story for dirk, if at this age he manages to take out gsw. i know not happening. but taking miami in 2011, and gsw in 2017.:lol

I hope he leaves the West needs contenders and not this, Dirk wanted another title and this is not even a playoff team.

i highly doubt that dirk is able to repeat his 2015/2016 season. he looked totally exhausted every game, could just barely jump when shoot, was (most of the times) extremly slow when fading away, making his shot blockable, his legs looked totally mummified.... but he was still mavs best player :lol

The real key is Carlisle. Dude is Top 5, maybe even Top 2-3 coach in the league. I've learned to never bet against Mavs to at least make the playoffs if Carlisle is coaching.

so clearly better are:

gsw, spurs, clippers, blazers, grizzlies and okc (westbrook, adams, waiters, kanter)
furthermore, i think this time the jazz will outplay us as well.
so what about wolves, new orleans, denver and houston?

I think a big hope that is also realistic is WB being traded. I only see two options for the Thunder;

1. Extend Westbrook...which they can do under the rules

2. Trade him

So we'll know about the Thunder in the coming days/weeks...but I'm hoping they trade him out East.

I do agree with your post though...there are a lot of teams in the way of the Mavs this year. Wolves and Pelicans will for sure be better.

His discipline and motivate players talent are amazing . But i have doubt on his game vision , specially on smallball and about young talent .

At least , we all seen how Mavs can be succesful with Dirk was playing at center for last month of the year . But he did it again , and took the young talent on the bench ; put Dirk at forward . And then Ibaka was playing with 15 ppg and %80 TS and Thunder turned Showtime LA against us .

I wish Carlisle would have people around him , who have great visions . Like Terry Stotts .

Minny and Boston definitely have enough to give imo.

Did you read my two options?

What if they go to WB and say...hey we want to renegotiate and extend your contract...which would pay him roughly the same amount over the next 4 years iirc.

And he says no.

How could you ever risk him walking as a free agent after what just happened?

You'd take 50 cents on the dollar if he isn't willing to extend.

Just Spurs and Warriors . And I don't have fear against Spurs , w/out Duncan .

So Kevin Durant saved the Mavs offseason with his bitchmove. :lol

I can see this team winning 50 games again.

Williams/JJ Barea
Matthews/ Devin Harris
Barnes/ Anderson/Evans
Dirk/ Powell
Bogut/Mejri/McGee/Hammons

You think the Mavs are modeling themselves after the Warriors?

Seth is a solid player too. Knockdown shooter, and is a very active defender... Think Rick will like him... Probably won't get that much court time but he's a solid deep string guard

What does Minny have outside of Towns and Wigglns? LaVine is a great slamdunk contestant, but will never be a very good starter in this league

he's gone thru free agency if they don't. it's panic time in oklahoma. they need to rebuild and maybe they can trade him for players but plus a first round pick.

I've seen him with putting high volume scoring and a lot of threes in garbage games .

I guess , he could score and shoot very well . But i don't know anything aboht his defence . If he has Curry level defence , amazing sign by Mavs . But i don't know .

He was our best perimeter defender last season... Really came down to effort... He played with a lot of intensity... He's a scrapper and will always give 100%

GSW jr haha.. i like that.

Bogut is exactly the type of center you want next to Dirk too. Can pass, screen, dribble, and defend rim. Barnes although he choked with his shot in the Finals, should be a good slasher, athletic presence for this team. nice pickups

Dirk Nowitzki (german interview): "If i cared about having a hierarchy in terms of salary pecking orders i wouldnt have left so much money on the table in the past few years. Last year our highest paid players were Wesley Matthews and Chandler Parsons, but our best players were actually Deron Williams and me."

Barnes to me is a 3rd option ceiling. Too inconsistent to be the lead dog. That said, I believe this coming season he can provide good defense, athleticism, and about 16-17 PPG with 7-8 rebounds and 2-3 assists.

He could be their Josh Howard, head-starting the offense during that first quarter since Dirk gets hot later in the game.

Impressive memory! That was exactly what Avery Johnson had Howard do every game. Unfortunately, at some point Johnson decided that Howard was the Mavs actual MVP... :facepalm

Think it may be closer 20 PPG. But he definitely isn't a first option guy.

The Mavs will find that in the draft (as soon as Dirk loses his game, or retires).....

Yep , i think so . I love Dandridge-Howard type of player , i wish Barness will be one of them .
