Think about it, list of contenders in the west: GSW, maybe Spurs
East: Cavs, raptors, hawks, pacers, knicks

Seems like the west is becoming the weak conference.

Well the Spurs are still better than anyone in the East aside from cleveland, but there's no doubt that OKC getting ripped apart is taking another contender out of the West.

What's interesting is that there might be a bigger gap between #1 and #2 in the West compared to #1 and #2 in the east. That depends on how dominant GSW is, how good the Spurs are, and how NYK plays out in the east health wise.

The Cavs and Warriors are the only teams that matter.

These other teams are just filler for the league to make money off of from November until the finals. It's going to be a long a tedious season with the exception of a few matchups because none of the other teams even have a chance.

The Spurs flopped in the playoffs. They have showed their age. Parker Mano and Duncan are washed up.

Knicks??

Anyway, I believe so. Right now, both Confs included, I see it like this (not in regards to what record I think they'll have, just on-paper power rankings):

Tier 1 - GSW
Tier 2 - Clev
Tier 3 - SA, Tor, Atl, Bos
Tier 4 - LAC, Dal, OKC, Mem Det, Indy, Chi, Mia, Orl

My top 4 tiers are 9/15 from the East. Like all the intelligent ppl said the past decade in respons to when ppl were calling for the NBA to change the conferences or playoff system - it's cyclical. East would be better eventually.

...but w/ how good Por, Utah, Minny, LAL, Denver look to be in a couple years, it won't last too long probably lol.

You're overrating Boston and Atlanta.

If Timmy retires, I wouldn't hold the Spurs in that esteem, but I still would consider them that team that can knock anyone out of the playoffs given the right time and situation.

I can see how maybe others may think that, but I don't believe I am.

Boston only improved their roster.

And Atlanta improved w/ a good draft, Schroeder ready to take over, and a no-pressured Dwight in a system that passes and actually does shit. Atlanta may not appear to have improved on the surface, but I think the moving parts will perform really well.

Oh, and both have Top 10 (Top 5?) coaches in the league.
